Could watch this guy all day long. Back in the late 80's/90's waiting for the latest windsurf mags to catch him in action was the mainstay of would be windsurfers. LEGEND...

The term #Waterman is indeed true here. I had the privilege of meeting Robby several times in the Netherlands in the late eighties. What a Guy! He is the man who inspirered me to go for #Waveski. Forever thankfull!

Great surfer, maybee, Robbie is the most famous surfer ever. I also read the surf magazines, when i began windsurfing in the 90´s. But I ask myself, if he has received eternal life in Jesus Christ, who is the creator of all water and waves an who is the way, the truth and the life.

@@tobiasl-f-v_de No matter what the answer is to your question, I think Robbie's one of the people out there for which a title really just isn't all that.... He's won all of them, and a bit. The guy must be close to his sixties and still rips...you gotta respect that!🌊🏄♂️🤙

I love your approach to gear. Keep it simple, go with less vs more. Wind sports can get too complicated and gear-specific very quickly to the point where you end up spending more time on the beach making decisions and rigging than actually playing on the water.

Great riding and informative vid 👍🏻. Makes me laugh though … only 9 months ago Robbie was saying the Matador LT soft handles are the best in surf blah blah blah and better than hard handles … 9 months later Robbie riding swell with hard handles.

@03:38 i wonder if a clever engineer could make some kind of a mechanical clutch that disengages the foil on the fin when its out of the water and then re-engages it to the neutral position quickly as it re-enters the water on landing..... edit: i guess it would be easier to have a static element like those on the the front wing of an F1 car that twist only above a certain speed.

I have followed your career since mid80s, as a result bought first windsurfer in 1985, since then i shifted to kiting and sailed with naish Park 9m2 that i eventually crashed. Always dreamed to windsurf Maui and say hello to waterman i have followed from remote foreign country and tried to copy some techniques. I also copied wearing Quicksilver. Thanks for being pioneer and ageless legend.and yes looking to move into wingfoil. I dont qualify to be waterman but i share insane addiction to be in water when i see ripples and some whitecaps.

Really impressive no matter what age. Makes it look easy. Those are not just water rounded rocks either. That is new lava rock and it could tear you and your gear to shreds. I have done many watersports including windsurfing for many years and am looking into what it would cost to wingfoil. I just checked and that gear he is using new would run over five thousand dollars new. No wonder he is out there by himself if he is risking losing that gear to the surf and rocks. Honey it's cheap compared to a motorcycle or a jetski!!!

@IRWE905 Жыл бұрын
How loose do you have your back strap? Normally WingFoilers ride with their Backfoot across the mid-line of the board. What tips can you give when falling when in a back strap (tremendous amount of leverage force with a Foil underneath). I WingFoil on the Naish 85 L (72 kg) and don't find it too big on the waves :)
@jonysanup Жыл бұрын
Hi, I notice you use the Naish 85L at 72kg. Same set-up as me. although I am a fraction heavier at 73kg. I recently bought the New Hover 72L (same board as in the video), It's amazing!! even though smaller it gets going earlier than my 85L. and when it touches down, it just skips across the water. probably due to the narrower water line and flat rear release area. Hope you can try one sometime.

“Kinda small waves” he says. Dude’s riding a foil, so it’s about eight foot from the surface of the water to his head, and the wave is a foot or so higher.

Mistral diamond head ist eben echt super Qualität dachte ich mir und ging erstmal unter die heiße Dusche 🚿 😂😅🎉 Peace for the World for you and your family and friends Euer Marcus goertz aus grosskrotzenburg Nebenstraße Ich plane gerade ein neues Buch zu schreiben ✍️ Hang loose. Mast und schotbruch euer Marcus goertz
