I love how put-together and focused FF16 is. The limited inventory preventing the classic RPG hoarding situation, focus on a singular character and really tight script -- it really puts the focus on the moment-to-moment gameplay and the story; this game really knows what it wants and needs to be and laser-focuses on polishing those parts to the fullest. It's really refreshing to see after so many games and even previous FF titles pile on numerous systems and resource management as indispensible parts of the "RPG experience".

It never went anywhere. XII was great (and honestly, in terms of narrative and character style is very similar to this one so I'm confused how you disliked it), XIII sold well even if it wasn't received well by everyone. I personally love the game. XV sold extremely well despite the development hell and hot mess that resulted. Tbh, the player base only have themselves to blame for that. People came down on XIII hard, so they tried to create the exact opposite. Also, the fact that you latch onto that one name shows that you're a huge FF XIV fan and technically that was released way after X. He was not solely responsible for this game. In fact, I think you'll be surprised at just how minimal his involvement was. A lot of the development team have also worked on XIV, true. They also worked on The Last Remnant. Yoshi P did not direct FF XVI though. He was simply on the production team. I think the guy is lauded way too much when it comes to the franchise as a whole. He played a massive role in reviving XIV, but the franchise has numerous alumni who are underutilised these days. Kitase is overseeing FF VII Remake, so he's seeing some use. Ito has seen very little involvement in recent years aside from overseeing the FF XII Remaster. His credentials are incredible though. He devised the ATB system, co-directed FF VI with Kitase, directed IX (arguably the greatest game in the franchise), co-directed and devised the battle system for XII. Aside from Nomura (who for some reason has been made the poster child), these great names in the franchise have barely been used since XII.
@decusq Жыл бұрын
@@j800r_aswell XIII sold well due to brand name and 6 years of advertising Hype behind it. Not to mention it is forever cursed with the phrase "you have to play 20 hours for it to be good" not a good title to have. I learned that the HARD WAY. Green lighting TWO SEQUELS THAT NO ONE ASKED FOR! And to elaborate on XII. The biggest problem I had with it was the characters as individuals were ok and each one had a pretty good backstory. HOWEVER as a group of comrades in arms their dynamic is one of the worst in the franchise, they don't play off each other well and never truly connect with one another, MAINLY because Basch was supposed ot be the main character and was replaced with Vaan right before Development was going into effect because the CEOs were worried Basch was too old. That and the battle gameplay is awful, they ripped it from FF11 pretty much. And as for FFXV, 13 years of Hype for a mediocre game! And before you point out it was only in development for THREE YEARS, VERSUS 13 was it's originator! I count those years in development! However I do not blame the developers mostly, it's the CEOs fault and partly Nomuras fault for re-writing the story for 7 years and then having poor Tabata to decipher 7 years of story development into something they could salvage in FF15, why drop 13's title? Because they realized any association with 13 was poison then!

my guess. ifrit in this setting differs from others. he's not a 'fire elemental'. he's hollowed out and needs to consume other things. joshua giving clive pheonixc fire allowed the ifrit inside of him to gain strength. but joshua losing control and transforming caused clive to transform too, cause of that link. ravenous the ifrit attacked joshua.

Okay so personal bet (as of 2 hours into this one), I'm going to say that the hooded guy is Joshua. He saw Joshua as the hooded guy in the past because of some weird crystal connection/time shenanigans, and he was thinking of joshua at the time when he freaked and turned into the secondary fire eikon. While he can steal the powers of the others, he doesn't have full control when he goes full kaiju mode. Also turns out I lied about watching the last one over a few days, since I just marathoned it instead. It's been a fun series.
@Sollace1 Жыл бұрын
That is also my theory at this point. They clearly go out of their way to not show the hooded guys upper face or hair because it would instantly give it away if he was a blond fire dominant. As far as i remember they didnt actually find Joshua's body after his 'death' did they?
@Uldihaa Жыл бұрын
It took me awhile to learn to switch to Garuda for Deadly Embrace on a partial stagger, too. But once I did, it made her Gouge make so much more sense. Garuda is basically the Eikon you use to do rapid Stagger meter damage, but a lot of her attacks take a bit of time to finish. So getting the boss-type to partial stagger and using Deadly Embrace to get them prone gives you time to use Gouge to its fullest without being interrupted or hit. So for right now, my Stagger meter combo is Scarlet Cyclone + regular combat (normal attacks + Phase Attacks + Thrust) to 50% -> Deadly Embrace -> Extended Gouge (you can make the attack longer by hitting the Square button) + regular combat -> Stagger -> Limit Break and using as many high damage abilities as I can.

I think the hooded guy might be a somehow-survived Joshua, but there's a chance that he might actually be Dominant of Ifrit, at the same time Clive is Dominant of Ifrit as well. Given Clive's displayed propensity for Eikon-slurping, it's possible that around the time of the Phoenix-Ifrit fight he got enough Ifrit juice from the hooded guy to become a full-on Dominant of Ifrit too. If that's the case, then there's the possibility that the hooded guy, as Ifrit, was the one who killed Joshua-as-Phoenix, but I think it's more likely that Clive was the one to do the deed, 'cause if he guzzled the Ifrit juice, the hooded guy wouldn't have enough to Eikon it up. Also, I remember a one or two second bit in a trailer of an Ifrit vs. Ifrit standoff, which is hugely influencing my predictions here.
@shinigamiinochi Жыл бұрын
It makes sense that Clive was the one who 'killed' Joshua (I also think the cloaked dominant is just Joshua who somehow survived) since the pillar of fire that Ifrit emerged from was right where Clive was. There is no way he could have survived otherwise. And we see Ifrit absorbing the Phoenix's fire, just like Clive can.

Just started watching this ep but i wonder if the fallen is the same or similar to the allagans in FF14. Wouldnt surprise me since its yoshi-p we are dealing with.

From what I understood, it is cheaper to buy basic weapons and the reinforce them than craft +1/2 weapons.

I am wondering about how the Eikons are aspected in this one. We already know five, being Phoenix/Ifrit for Fire, Garuda Wind, Ramuh Lightning, Shiva Ice and Titan Earth. So far, nothing out of the ordinary, and that leaves Water, and potentially Holy/Light and Dark? Now of course the elements might be unique to FFXVI but I thought it was interesting. Bahamut and Odin, as I could quickly read, usually isn't aspected so I am curious to see what they are wardens over

I do recall some promotional material mentioning Odin was dark in this one

I'm assuming Bahamut is Holy, since he's from the "Holy Empire", so that would leave Odin for Dark, and it works since Odin usually is either lightning or non-elemental, but since every Eikon is an element in this game and lightning is taken.
