People's voices change as they get older plus if you can make your voice unique then it allows you to stand out from the crowd. It's not like it's studio tricks or fake in anyway. There is footage of this being filmed in the recent documentary and it reveals she is actually standing at the mic holding her daughter in a hip carry position and supporting her weight entirely while singing, which I find even more impressive. Wish I could sing that well while holding a toddler on my lap! Alanis always had a particular sounding singing voice that I've never been able to describe until your analysis. I have followed Alanis’ career since her early days on Nickelodeon’s ‘You Can’t Do That on Television’ in the 80’s. Out of all of the great acting/singing showcases she has performed, being a Mommy, seems to be on of her greatest performances yet.
