And yes the rest of his appearance here on Nashville Now is a real gem, highly recommend any Gary Puckett fans check it out, so historic, with Jim Glaser and Gary sitting together on the sofa with Gary on acoustic, just as casual and comfortable and confident as can be, delivering a lovely fresh, live take on this fabulous song. The man you’re talking about was Jim glazier one of the three Glaser brothers who had many country hits and also played with Marty Robbins for many years in the 60s and 70s so they were probably out on the road when the song hit but I guarantee when the publishing money came rolling in he knew it

There is considerable difference between this live performance and the original recorded version of this sound. I think his voice is good as ever, but I don't like the arrangement (if that is the right word) of the song. Or maybe the right word would be the style of the song, which is the word the presenter uses, in that it is much more country. I remember in an interview Gary Puckett mentioned that it was originally a country song done by another group, and they seem to have injected a little bit of that back into this version, and Gary's voice also in some places has a bit of a country sound, and I really don't like it. Also, there is a slight but to me significant change in lyrics. The original lyrics were "have you got cheating on your heart, on your mind." Here he just says "on your mind, on your mind." A small change, but I think it is significant to the song and diminishes it.

yes, not my fave version. he over-pronounces 2 words needlessly ("sa-Tis-fied), adds too many embellishments, strays from the tune, muddies up some of the words by repeating some letters or syllables (wowomamannn). i feel like i am listening to Tom Jones over singing (not pushing high notes but instead inserting to many vocal gymnastics) of a Gary Puckett song, but not especially doing it justice. Gary seems to be singing reluctantly, as if he is under duress.
