Wingspan is a competitive, medium-weight, card-driven, engine-building board game from Stonemaier Games. It's designed by Elizabeth Hargrave and features over 170 birds illustrated by Natalia Rojas and Ana Maria Martinez.
You are bird enthusiasts-researchers, bird watchers, ornithologists, and collectors-seeking to discover and attract the best birds to your network of wildlife preserves. Each bird extends a chain of powerful combinations in one of your habitats (actions). These habitats focus on several key aspects of growth:
Gain food tokens via custom dice in a birdfeeder dice tower
Lay eggs using egg miniatures in a variety of colors
Draw from hundreds of unique bird cards and play them
The winner is the player with the most points after 4 rounds.

There are at least two pairs of dulipcate set of birds:- Mountain Chickadee & Carolina Chickadee , Baird's Sparrow & Cassin's Sparrow Both set of birds score exactly the same , the only difference is the picture, name and the winspan measurement but both score the same bonuses.

Other pairs White Breasted Nuthatch & Red Breasted Nuthatch, Mountain Bluebird & Eastern BlueBird. I quess all these birds got added to balance out the bonus cards.

Yes, you've got a good point there its a bit of a trick to balance the bird/bonus dynamic.

New to Wingspan and I love it! There is always luck in games with cards, but my limited experience with the game tells me that a better player wins a better starting hand/ card draw. Not to mention that the 3 face up cards somewhat limit the luck factor.

Our houserule is to allow a mulligan to 4 cards. Pretty rarely needed though, usually there is a way to play even a bad starting hand. Easier even with oceania expansion.

In my experience, a lot of Stonemaier Games' games are about making the most of what you have at the moment, and making decisions in that situation.
