I’m going to go with Wingspan Asia first. Then I’ll probably venture into the base game. I actually played it MANY years ago and enjoyed it, but I have this weird thing where if a friend owns a game I’m reluctant to purchase it. Given the fact that said friend moved away two years ago, I think I’m good to purchase, haha. Thanks again! Watching your Super Boss Monster vid as we speak. Glad to discover your channel

Excellent overview and explanation! I can’t get enough of this game. Thank you for sharing your energy and passion for board-gaming. It’s great to see local content creators! My daughters love the theme, and use the iOS app that scans the bird cards, and then plays a sound clip of the specific bird you scanned. There are too many cards to even think about my favourite. Yet, I do like the cards that allow me to tuck, or cards with lots of egg spots. They are easy to understand and easy to work to getting points.

I only have Wingspan Asia. On the opposite side of the board is the Oceana board. Have you tried Oceana cards and board with the Asia game? There really wasn't much in the rules explaining why the Oceana board was on the back side of the board. I will some day purchase more cards from either the base or another expansion. Which would you recommend?
@kovray11 ай бұрын
Ooo it’s been a while since we played, but I believe the backside is to accommodate Oceania cards? We have not tried that particular combination as we usually just play the base game with all the cards ! You honestly can’t go wrong with either expansions, I would suggest picking one where you’re more keen to see and learn the birds. Thanks for watching!

Amazing overview. Wingspan is just the hit game with my partner, played more than 100 times and we are so looking forward to getting this! I really like Oceania as for us the fun of the game is to play birds and nectar makes it easier to do so ! Favourite bird in wingspan is definitely the little penguin ! In life the Robin for childhood nostalgia! Thanks for the nice video !

Thanks so much for watching Benjamin! Over 100 times is certainly a feat! Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the newest expansion! Also the little penguin can just steal my heart and never give it back. It’s perfect.

I discovered and learned how to play wingspan a month or so ago and played it on board game arena about 30 times and I am really considering getting the game and maybe one of the expansions for christmas I usually play with more than two players so core game is a must rather than starting with asia Great and entertaining video btw This is the first I watched from this channel

Birds! Identifying some birds is so easy but I now need to look up the good old common birds. I love watching them get pudgy as the fall shifts into winter. They make me so happy being all plump with their little feathers and chirping away. Honestly such a beautiful game, wingspan is so wonderful to play just to look at all the art and learn about birds. Also I love that you can substitute mini eggs for the eggs in game aha

This was one of the first tabletop games that I played and it really kicked off my hobby of playing board games. It’s so much fun to play, very approachable and easy to teach! It’s definitely one of my favorites and always a go to. Also my favorite birds(when it comes to wingspan) are any of the ones that allow you to tuck a card! 🦅
@kovray2 жыл бұрын
Having a massive stack of tucked cards is one of the best feelings! This game will always have a special place in our heart because it was one of our first photos we've taken when we started our content journey!

Hi, finally I am getting around to investigating this board game thoroughly. This video was really helpful for getting a second opinion in what order to buy. I think hornbills are my favourite birds btw! I have one additional question that you haven't covered, related to how this feels like a very text-heavy game: how difficult is it to play and teach to people who don't speak the language? For me English is no problem, but living in Spain with other nationalities around me, I would love to share the game with as many people as possible.
@kovray Жыл бұрын
I do think this card would be quite difficult to teach to people who don’t speak English because there’s so many abilities and different birds. There are however localized versions! You should definitely consider picking up the Spanish version :)
@NewAge374 Жыл бұрын
@@kovray Thanks for the response! Localised versions I am aware of, there are the only ones in shops around. The issue is playing the game sometimes with English-speaking, sometimes with Spanish-speaking, sometimes with French or Dutch-speaking peoples who all have different levels in the other languages!

Thanks for the video! (Catching up.) I'm probably amongst the last board game veterans (however many years of experience constitute veteran status-approaching 8 years here) that has not played Wingspan yet. I hope to change that soon. Personally, I really would want to try the original base game first before possibly buying either it or the Asia standalone expansion. Just a matter of who has it, or tough it up through a gaming site like Board Game Arena. (tbh: I prefer playing board games in-person rather than over the internet.) Thankfully Ilya changed his favorite bird after the particularly awkward reasoning from the past video. 😬 Not sure what bird is my favorite. Probably a cardinal or a penguin in general. Need to play Wingspan to learn more about them. 😁

Hello guys, really appreciate the way you structured this video. I'm saying this because I don't own any Wingspan game and wanted for quite some time to get it. Do you think is good to get Asia+European+Oceania in order to play the solo and enjoy all the other modes the game has to offer without the need of the base game ? I believe I will only miss the birds from the American region, correct? Thank you !
@kovray Жыл бұрын
Hello hello! Thank you for the kind comment, we really appreciate it. I had to do some research here and double check as we've only played the solo mode once or twice. You are correct you can certainly go that way. Our recommendation would be to get Asia first for sure, but the rest is up to you really. The base game does add quite a lot besides bird cards, but most of it is cosmetic though, egg variety, a dice tower, but you can decide if you want to scale up after Asia! I hope that's helpful? Thank you so much again for watching!

My favorite bird is Sandhill Crane. Why because they walk by my home everyday! I must admit the Asian expansion doesn't entice me much. Did I understand if you buy the nesting box it comes with the Asian expansion.
@kovray2 жыл бұрын
One thing we didn’t mention in the video is the new push your luck mechanic on some birds in the expansion. There’s birds where you can draw three cards and keep and tuck them as long as their combined wingspan is under 120, you draw one at a time and can stop whenever. Yes, I believe the first edition of the Nesting Box will come with the Wingspan Asia box inside.

My favorite bird in the game is the Galah. It is a huge point scoring tucking bird. I’ve seen them in zoos in the Netherlands and my grandson painted a picture of them for Mother’s Day. My favorite IRL bird is the Conure, a little parrot because I owned one. I hope they will be in the Latin America expansion

Ah love both of these! It’s funny when we first asked the question we didn’t even intend it to be “In Wingspan..” but with so many birds in Wingspan it’s natural to see your favorite in the game!
