Nice game! Why no heron consideration from the starting hand? Fish in the feeder, it hits two of the first round goals and not bad to pay 0 eggs to instantly get 2 card draw. Could even keep the worm + seed to still play Dunnock as the starting forest option then

@@williammclean1760Yeah, that was my thinking too. Heron helped with 3 separate round goals. But like you said, you can’t argue with the result.

I'm really not a fan of the heron, I almost never play it, it's not worth many points and the power is weak. You're right that this is probably one of the more ideal situations to keep it, since you need that extra fish, and there is one in the feeder, so it was an option but just not the best one available for me. I would only consider keeping it here if it was the only starting hand bird capable of going in the wetlands, but I had Red Knot and the dove which are both much better options to work with. Sometimes it pays to be patient if it allows you to play better birds, and in this situation, I knew I could get two forest birds down and spend some time taking food, to allow me to play those other birds, rather than rush down the heron.

Did you not want to play the Turtle Dove with seeds on the Nuthatch?

It’s a different kind of nuthatch that lets you spend the caches. With this one they have to stay there as points. Would’ve been nice though!
