Would be really interesting to rewind reality and just do the forest engine over the grassland, see what could have happened. Would that have saved enough turns to let you build into bigger plays with birds you pulled with the Wood Duck? Seems like it was the loss of time building out the grassland that ended up making the difference. It’s like you said in the commentary, having one or the other of those really good options would have felt straightforward. Having both made it tempting to linger a few turns in the middle of the road, splitting the difference by playing Wood Duck first and then going grassland. I dunno. You’re a way better player then I am, and all your decisions made sense at the time. Tough match.

Yeah, this game was instructive for me as I find myself in similar situations of whether to build an engine in the forest or grasslands.

This is probably one of the hardest parts about Wingspan. When you have a plethora of good options, it can be super hard to determine which will give you the most points, especially if it's in the midgame. Good game though.
