Here is a beautiful copy of the Jim Lange game show Give n Take!

In the early 1950s (to be exact,1952), CBS had an earlier game called, "Give and Take" (which was unrelated), which had four contestants selecting prizes from a table, then had to answer questions to win it. It was shown for thirteen weeks on Thursday afternoons,making it one of the few daytime quiz or game shows not to run between the Monday thru Friday schedule.
@joeanderson20244 жыл бұрын
Isn’t Thursday afternoon between Monday thru Friday?
@armorybrunotjr.32043 жыл бұрын
Yes. I am saying that this early 1950s quiz show was only shown on Thursday afternoons. Traditionally, daytime games are usually seen Mondays-Fridays.

"Produced by the Carruthers Company"...makes sense--despite Jim Lange, Johnny Jacobs, and Jane Nelson, it's too normal to be a Chuck Barris product.

@@jamesklatt Actually by then, "Price" had moved back to the mornings and the 9:30 (Pacific) AM timeslot that it initially debuted in. "Give 'n Take" was on at 9:00 AM, until "Musical Chairs" was cancelled, and "Give 'n Take" moved to 3:00 PM, until it was cancelled, when "Price" permanently expanded to an hour, taking over at 9:00 AM. Also, I think by that time "The Edge of Night" had made its move from CBS to ABC.

I remember watching the show after school. It wasn't on the air very long. This would have worked and should have worked but soap operas were getting expanded to 60 minutes back then and many shows were clipped. I remember after the pilot they made the questions a toss up between the four of them. The person who answered correctly, had control of the spinner.

This show was on the CBS daytime lineup from Sept to Oct 1975 replaced Spin Off. It aired its last broadcast on Nov 26,1975. The day before Thanksgiving 1975. Do you remember the extra numbers they had to get through (such as 5-6-7-8-9-0-blank-1)? At least you can read them without eyeglasses! I think the prices had gone a little higher since. Wasn't the next question about glockenschpeel (don't know how to spell it) a reminder of what Wilma said on the Flintstones (it was Rockenschpeel, a parody supermarket)? Alas the contestant who answered 'glockenschpeel' had over $5,000--the show's limit on Give & Take.
