Winnebago Fuse/Ford Transit SumoSpring Install SSR-121-54

I appreciate all of the guidance and sharing of your projects here. We are contemplating dinghy towing of a 2,500# Hyundai Accent with a 2019 Fuse 23T. The GCWR allows for about 3200# maximum without borrowing any of the CCC other than the 50# for the towbar. We are researching how much of a hit to the fuel economy we could expect. There are times we could get by without it, but others we end up doing side trips for hobby and work that make the RV alone less convenient. We full-time RV'd for 3+ years in a large truck camper and miss the full-size jeep we used to take with us, but we figure we can rent the jeep when we get to those technical trails. ;-)

Informative video, thank you. Question, Sumo recommends a .5" - 1" gap between the frame and bump stop. I see you have it resting on the frame (hence the reason its now raised). Any reason why?

That was awesome... I had to swear more when I did mine, and I sat a little lower than you did so a single spacer did the trick for me.

After having the Sumos on for a while, how do like them? How do they affect the ride? Do you recommend them? I too have the Ford Transit 350HD, a 2016 Coachmen Freelander 20CB.

When a vehicles suspension is "Unloaded" by jacking it up, as you did for the install, it does not settle back down to "Ride Height" (RH). That would happen after driving over some bumps. So the RH you measure would be different after driving. WHAT was the final change in ride height? Also, longer "Bump Stops" may increase ride height, but at the expense of reducing suspension travel. Spring replacement or re-arching, would be the proper way to change ride height, as it would increase suspension travel, not reduce it.

I agree, seems like most install it with all spacer to get more lift, but your really goi g to make a stiffer ride. I'm installing mine today with 3/4 inch gap, so the bump stop or sway will work once sumo hits axil

I really like the 23F, but even with the 1" added it looks too low. Is there anything else one can do? This doesn't look BLM land camping able.

We have done lot of that type of camping. You just have to go slow and scout ahead
