Hey there. Thanks for the video. We have had our FLX out four times and we like most things about it. I'm a middle-aged guy who gets wider by the day. I find getting changed in the bathroom is near impossible. A couple more inches of room would have made a big difference. I took it up to the Shenandoah Mountains for a fishing trip off grid. Everything was great but I found out that if you don't have a clear sky your solar panels really suffer. We had dappled sunlight through the trees, what I thought wasn't too bad, but the battery never really charged up. We didn't use the A/C as it was still cool up in the mountains but did run a two small fans at night. Another complaint is the grey water tank fills up faster than I thought it would. I know Winnebago is trying to save weight but bigger tanks would be appreciated. We are still trying to get it dialed in and find where we want to store things, etc. We downsized from a 36 ft Jayco Eagle Bunkhouse so it will take a few trips to learn our new smaller lifestyle. Thanks -Scott BTW- Born and raised in WI (Dane County). Been in Virginia since 2000.

Jane and I picked up our Flex last Tuesday in Kyle Texas about 57 miles from our home, Georgetown with is about 30 miles north of Austin. On the way back we skirted the Austin traffic and added about 50 extra miles to the drive. During the walk-through, we brought up many of the issues you ran into with your rig. The tech said that some of those issues were overcome or would not be a problem here in central Texas. We will see.

Great to hear your comments. I purchased a 2108DS like yours. I think I was one of the first on the west coast. I’ve taken it out about three times now for it’s shakedowns. I agree with you on your assessments , but I’ve been very fortunate and not experienced any of the battery issues that have been reported from other people, nor any other problems really. Very pleased. Xantrex battery readings are same as you reported, but I always monitor the Lithionics app anyway. I admit, I don’t think Winnebago ever advertised using the AC all night or for prolonged periods of time off grid. The battery capacity isn’t enough. I was told 4-5 hours was a reasonable expectation from the salespeople. Night mode on the Truma AC may extend it more. Aqua go as you say is amazing. Love the shower miser and quick host water from the system. For a new mattress I purchased a Full sized 8” Zinus memory foam bed. Usually around $300-400, but found that Walmart had them on sale for $50. It is Awwwwesom! And it fits in the space allotted so you can close the Murphy bed. Very comfortable. Only issue was the propane quick disconnect outside was cracked and leaking and is part of a nation wide recall. Easy fix.

One thing we found out on our maiden run is that the handles for the black and gray water valves are pretty delicate. I bent the handle to the black valve and had to take it back to the dealer about 709 miles away.

The battery is fairly locked down by Lithionics. The inverter is the biggest one to ensure is set correctly. You’ll find more at my website under the blog. www.speedbumpmedia.com

A lead acid battery system can't run an ac unit. A large lithium system can, but that is a huge cost. I like the idea of getting a super max fan which a dual lead acid system can handle. Boon docking and ac are really at a different level, like a 70 thousand Oliver with battery upgrade. That, or stay with the hordes in full power campgrounds and hook up to shore power. You can also use a generator, but please stay far away from me. If I wanted engine noise I'd camp off a freeway, or better yet just stay home.

Thanks for the video how much power does the refrigerator draw
@speedbumpmedia9584
@speedbumpmedia9584 2 жыл бұрын
It’s negligible. The Fridge, lights, and at least the other more minor appliances seem to have very little hit on the battery. (Slight update. The fridge will draw off and on up to about 5 amps when the compressor is on. It’s the biggest regular draw outside of AC and appliances but not too bad).

We weighed our rig and SUV at a cat scale and the Trailer weighed less than I expected and the SUV more.,

I’m totally new at this just purchased a micro mini flex haven’t even picked it up yet. We live in Florida and we’re planning to go to the Fl keys with it BUT! I was kinda of a A hole to the sales guy in trying to ascertain from him all the info I could about making sure that the dang A/C would cool the thing down to sleep. Of course he assured it it would be no problem hmmmm? Can you tell me if it’s going to be an issue incidentally we do not intend on going off grid for a good while simply cause we’re new at this and want to gain experience, So I thought that with the unit being hooked up into the parks power it would be ok? Thank you for any info your able to provide, you seem to know what the heck your talking about and your not BSing around thx,

The AC works great. We are still trying to gauge how much we can run it off grid and I’m working through another thing that is puzzling. Stay tuned as I’m getting ready to run through a battery check at Lithionics request.

@@speedbumpmedia9584 and Juilo I bought the FLX about 2 weeks ago it just arrived out in California. We just finished a trip along the Eastern Sierras from the desert to the mountains. From Sunday to Saturday the battery lasted the whole trip. We used the AC in the desert and it does drain the battery pretty significantly after a few hours about 15% in 90 degree heat with AC set at 68. If you are in full sun the battery should charge back up. However, based on my experience the battery won't last if running AC all day. I would limit it to a few hours a day. I also set the fridge between cool and cold setting which seem to be good balance of keeping everything cold and the fridge not running all the time. Up in the mountains we were parked in mostly shade and I went from 120AH charge to about 11AH. We didn't need AC at this point so the battery went from 62% to 41% after 3 days. I also bought a go power 100 watt portable solar for the side plug to have it be more in the sun and it wouldn't work flashing over voltage the entire time. I need to figure that out. The apps for battery and inverter are great use. Mine was set incorrectly from the dealership and I reprogrammed it to proper settings based on manuals.

@@troygatchell8383 which manuals are you referring to? I also just discovered that the campground we’ve been doing test runs appears to have horrible amps… as in 1-2 amps. Kinda hard to recharge batteries if the power is next to nothing. Hooked up my little generator at home just to see what it can put back into the battery and it was pushing 86amps.

@@troygatchell8383 Woah, you have the EXACT same problem that I have. Did you ever get the Solar On The Side + portable panel thing figured out? I would love to hear more. Edit: looks like I needed a panel that either has NO charge controller or one that lets you bypass it. Should be here Tues. Edit 2: Renogy 200w panel showed up, they let you bypass the controller, and it was rocking on a nice sunny summer Northern California morning. Worked like a charm! Can't wait to get out camping again to test it more.

I've been somewhat disappointed in Winnebago. You shouldn't have any problems. It should be reliable on every level.
