I recently got an ember Overland series that has the truma aventa AC / Combi hot water heater unit. I have a 3400 watt Max champion inverter generator. On eco mode it will not start the unit, I have to have the genny running full blast in order to start it. It's a real waste of fuel because once the compressor kicks in eco mode pulls it just fine. My workaround is to turn on my 3000 watt Master volt inverter with pass-through. With the generator in eco mode and the inverter turned on, the AC compressor will kick on in the inverter will run for about 5 seconds boosting the amperage giving the champion time to come off eco mode. Working great so far.

3 gallons? If you do a good job of draining, which is three separate steps, including pumping all the cold water out, with all the drains open, draining the water heater outside and then bypassing the hot water heater. 1/2 to 1 gallon gallon of antifreeze, MAX. Since all the faucets are drained down, there is no water to freeze, except in trapped areas like the valve on the back side of the toilet or the outside sprayer. So a small amount of antifreeze can then be pumped into these areas quickly and a tiny bit in each sink. With -50F antifreeze, Any remaining water will barely dilute the antifreeze, giving you at least -30F protection. 40 years doing this on many RVs and or using a compressor only to blow the water out. I only use antifreeze on Micro Minnies because of the trapped water in the two locations I mentioned.

Thank you, super helpful. Favor to ask... On your trauma aventa, does the fan run continuously when it is powered on? Or does the fan cycle on and off with the compressor? Trying to figure out how it gauges an accurate temperature since a lot of the units without external ducting rely on constant fan circulation over a thermistor in the intake, but that can lead to additional moisture off the coils if the fan is running continuously without compressor.

There’s no guarantee that Winnebago or Schwintek will actually fix the slide issue. It’s a gamble buying now and unless Winnebago can confirm they are addressing the slide failures, I don’t see a point in waiting. Buying now at least will give you the winter to have it fixed. 😅 They seemingly fail between 15-20 full cycles so even then you’d have to take a lot of trips in a few months to basically do your own burn in testing.

My fam is currently considering the FLX 2306BHS, wondering if it's worth gambling on a still new 2022/2023 or wait for possible updated parts in a 2024 model even with higher cost of entry. I watched your other video on the battery needing to removed for long term winter storage, so I wonder how many dealers in the Midwest actually moved the units or the batteries to climate controlled storage and followed all of the recommended instructions in doing so. Keep up the good work, your vids have been very helpful as we navigate this journey.

Thanks for the video. I agree, the Truma system is fantastic. Our Schwintek slider in our 2108DS failed after 12 trips. Dealer said it was installed with sub par parts. They also said Winnebago is upgrading with a different type/model of Schwintek. Covered under warranty. So we got the upgrade…whatever that is. Looks slightly different if you peel back the rubber seal and look in. Works great and no more issues. Honestly, very few issues other than that. Very pleased with the trailer overall. No regrets. Thanks again for the updates and I’m not a fan of Lippert either.

@@TheDevilOfCoffee I dropped it off in December and got it back in April. It was working but I could hear the gears grinding and popping so I knew there was an issue. I also knew if I dropped it off during the summer I would be without the trailer so I waited until winter to drop it off so they could work on it when I didn’t need it. Some of the long wait was the dealer and some of it was Winnebago being slow with parts and warranty authorization.

The residential 110 refrigerator is wrong for a campe4. Takes all the power and you cannot use other electric. Forget heat heating tanks etc. no power. The fridge will run 4-5 hours on a 12 volt battery. You cannot boondock camp with a micro Minnie. I’m selling it after the first season. It was hell putting up with it. Melted my ice cream. Roof leaked ,hot water heater needed a part replacement, heater needed part replacement, aluminum cover over wood trim on bottom of slider split away from frame, can’t remember all the issues. I have boondocked camped for years going back to a 1965 Avalon and never had a year like this with the micro Minninie. And Winnebago does not care, will not listen, will not rectify its mistakes. Boondock camping requires a gas/electric refrigerator. That is if you are going to have a working fridge camping, and frozen ice cream. Not counting groceries lost because the fridge does not work. With batteries full going into evening the fridge will be off by 2400. The 110 residential fridge draws so much power. With a 2400 generator the air conditioner will shut down the generator if you try to use it. The microwave will take it down. I have used the same generator years before for microwave and air conditioner. This is a disaster and it is on Winnebago.

Hi SpeedBumpMedia, glad to see on KZbin! I believe I had the same problem, are you talking about the “GRID” and under that label where it says “Breaking Rating” you have it set at 15A>. I just want to verify the area that you are talking about. My family own the “Winnebago Micro Minnie FLX 2306BHS” and I am still very new at this FLX system. I brought a Champion 2500 generator and figure this would work. When I was just charging the FLX battery, the generator would overload. Could you please show me the steps how to use the XANTREX APP how to set this setting, I won’t overload. Or could you make a short video on this procedure. I feel my RV dealer has a lack of knowledge. Thank you so much.

Thanks for all the FLX videos. Pretty much how I felt after my first trip with my FLX. Winnie really dropped the ball not making a proper video talking about how to work the system and what to do in certain situations like turn on, turn off, off grid, storage. Thankfully I figured it all out in about 3hrs. I may make my own video to help others. My dealer knew nothing about it but the same stuff everyone else knew. Truma stuff works well for me. Didn't need a manual for that. I think if you are not using the AC, the battery will last quite some time. We used the AC for a few hours one night and still had enough charge for 3 days. If we needed it longer, I'd bring a generator. Bed was my biggest complaint. Already ordered a new one. My Xantrex was set correctly from factory, but the GoPower controller wasn't.

Yeah because the freakin electric does not work. It cannot support the air. I know that. I have 2022 bh2100. The fridge takes so much power nothing else works right. I have run the generator 4 hours and still got a 2/3 charge. The fridge isESG policy and you cannot boondock camp with it. You are always discharge to power-always going down. No, the generator will not sustain the air. It will shut down after a short time. If you can’t boondock in Alaska with 22-23 hours light,it is not working. I boondock camp in Alaska every year. And this is the worse without power. I use a 600 power station for small electric,a little buddy gas heater for heat. I might as well have a cardboard box to camp. The heat does not work because not enough power to start or maintain. This Winnebago is shit. Winnebago is not customer friendly or cooperative. They said the fridge works. It does not. At only g3tting to 2/3 power it does not make it to morning on some nights and it is off. My ice cream melting is the last straw in tolerating the situation. I put in a work order it does not work. Not when it goes off and takes all the power. Some nights have been 30’s&40’s. I put the little buddy on in morning to heat up. My generator is a Cummins 2400. It will not run air. The fridge pulling so much and then air it stops. Also, you know this is ruining my batteries. Rv place tested and the fridge will run 5 hours on 12 volt battery. That does not work. This ESG fridge is stupid and does not work. I also keep a 90 watt panel plugged in with the 190 that is on the roof. That’s steady 280watts. This unit is a solar set up. Winnebago needs to get back to the old and make good on their stupidity and costly policy for the customer. Not to mention defeating the camping idea. This is really crap. Also, this is why people are looking to older campers and fixing up. I had an old68 Avalone which I wish was still useful for my camping. Steel frame went. Not up to Alaska/canada terrain.

Thanks for the videos and information! Have your tried the solar side port yet? I bought a 100w portable and have been doing quite a bit of testing. I am convinced that the side port is wired direct to the battery, NOT to the controller as everyone seems to think. This belief confuses me because the gopower mppt controller does NOT have a secondary input for another solar input. This means that if the side port does indeed go to the controller then it could only be wired in parallel with the roof panels. In that scenario, the side port input would need to be matched to the same approximate voltage of about 37 volts. Otherwise the controller seems to show a compromise of lower voltage which actually results in less charging. Thanks again for your contribution to the information pool. Jim

I have not found a solid answer on the solar port on the side. Most of what seems to be reliable info points to it NOT being a simple plug and play option. I’ve been leaning toward putting the more basic glue down panel on top to give it a little more solar. With that, it does just plug into the rooftop controller. But there’s really only space for one in my opinion because I want to be able to walk the roof and clean it without walking on any panel.

I do not like it. It is not conducive to boondocking. The batteries are always down. The fridge is just electric and it takes all the power. I have always boondock camping in other campers and been workable. Winnebago will not address the fridge issue. It should be gas/electric. I use a solar power station for lights and minor power. The fridge is no good for camping. No heat with 30 degree nights or cold days. The fan uses so much power so heater cannot run. You cannot run a generator continuously. You can charge batteries on generator and the batteries will be down before morning because of fridge. Really a bad setup. Steps more than 7” high. More like 10+. Slider 11” step plus seats another 26” high. Bed 28” high. Need stools and handles to pull up. Campers not built for average campers. Built for 6’ +. Had camper picked up so did not know these things. Never thought height would have been adjusted to 6’ accommodate or the fridge would only be electric. Fine camper for hookup camping in community type camping. Not for regular camping. This is 2022bh2100.
