A lot of the complaints Ottawa fans had with Korpi was the low danger shots that snuck in. A lot of the time, he let in the first or second shot of the game, on a shot that usually wouldn't really seem that difficult to stop. And that was a consistent pattern throughout the year. That has nothing to do with defense. A lot of the times, we were winning on had all the momentum, and Korpi let in a softy and that changed the direction of the game. yes, our D wasn't great but I promise you it wasn't just that.

Yeah the bruins have cap space to work with, but so does everyone else. 3 mil for a goalie you dont need is a problem when negotiating free agents who basically have to be overpaid to lure them. Joonas could be the reason we end up loosing out on another piece that completes this team. I agree, the sky isn't falling yet, but the way you dismiss the value of cap space is wild to me.

Once the cap gets filled up, every bit counts, particularly when making a run around the trade deadline. We saw that with the Mike Reilly deal. Freeing up $3M is a big deal when the cap is all slotted. In fact, they didn't have much more than that to spread out on several players last season. Of course, if the Bruins won't be making a run, it won't matter...that $3M bit will be like the cost of goods sold, yeah?

We would have won the trade had we just dumped Ullmark for nothing but salary dump. That five million in cap space would have made a tremendous difference in signing a top goal scorer and signing Swayman and some other parts now I have zero faith we improve the team this off season. I have defended Sweeney’s moves in the past especially trades and deadline moves but now I think he needs to go. This deal totally screws us

Does Essensa turn him around? (He played well on a decent team.) If not, what's the gaffe? Kastelic might be a great fit. What comes back in the draft? Some people are claiming that they're chasing Necas and needed it. Yeah...nah. Right now, the scouting reports and ranking on this Bruins team are not great. How many teams might they be chasing...in their own division? If Swayman goes down (after playing many more games), they could be playing for picks.

Haha you have to talk to Conor Ryan too before he loses all credibility in Boston sports reporting. I agree whole heartedly with Evan and Conor. It’s a decent-solid value, and this may work out to be a great trade if korpisalo can play 20-25 games and win 75% of those starts. Keep it up Hags I’ve liked the input and panels you’ve had on lately!👍🏽

There are some interesting ideas for 25th pick, which is surprising. Doesn't look they are flipping that pick. The salary situation is a mess. Didn't realize Ullmark refused to resign in Ottawa. Sounds like Ottawa salary dump.😅

I’m a Sens fan. Really like Kasty here. At the end of the 2023 season, lots of fans penned him in as our fourth line centre which was telling considering the rest of the bottom 6 was virtually up in the air. When he’s at his best he’ll hit the heck out of the other team, win you most face offs he takes and yes, he will fight (albeit not well). Biggest issue I and many other fans had with him was that he wouldn’t use his size to his advantage. He’s an absolute monster but played timid in Ottawa. Hope Boston can bring the best out of him

Winners and Losers from the Linus Ullmark Trade: Winner: Ottawa Senators: They dumped the NHL’s worst goalie and goalie contract that they had been trying to get rid of for months and all it cost them was #25 in the draft which basically amounts to a high second round pick in this 2024 weak draft And sorry Bruins Homers and Sweeney Apologist,s that’s the cost of dumping a contract like Korpisalo’s. Thus Ullmark wasn’t traded for that 1st round pick. Instead he got moved for Kastelic and that crap $1Mish in Cap Space. Winner: Linus Ullmark (potentially): Ullmark goes someplace he’s wanted, he’s the clear cut starter and he has the ability to up his value as he goes into free agency next year looking for his last big contract. He could also fall flat on his face in Ottawa, so… Losers: Don Sweeney, Boston’s Cap Space, Boston’s Goalie Room, Boston’s forward group and Boston’s D-Corps Sweeney, for no reason whatsoever, gave Ullmark that full NTC and it prevented the Bruins from maximizing value in any possible trade involving Ullmark Sweeney failed to add a Top 6 forward, a Top 4D or even a solid NHL prospect in the Ullmark deal not to mention he failed to open up hardly any Cap Space while additionally createing a new “bad contract” problem he’ll be stuck with for the next four years in Korpisalo’s crap deal Woop-di-Do they got some 4th line guy that has a year on his deal to add to their 50 other 4th line guys and a $1M in Cap Sweeney took on the Korpisalos bad contract and Ottawa had to give them the 1st to do it. Again, Kastelic and the crap cap space, that’s what Ullmark got traded for And Bruins homers, Sweneey had to give up a 1st, and their highest drafted prospect in 2018 2nd round D-Man Axl Andersson to get rid of only 50% of David Backe’s crap contract. Sweeney also had to give up a 2nd to get rid of John Moore’s crap contract and he also had to move 2nd round d-man (2015 draft) and Top 4 fixture for the NYR Ryan Lindgren as that was the price to get NYR to take on just some of Belesky’s crap contract So homers, #25 WAS NOT FOR ULLMARK!!! Don Sweeney’s own history of moving picks and or prospects to unload his own bad contracts to open up Cap Space PROVES THAT!!! Value wise the Ullmark trade stinks for Boston and only someone completely brain dead or drunk on Bruins Homer Juice when it comes to understanding NHL player, draft pick and contract values would say otherwise How are the Bruins better off in the short term or long term when all they received is a first round pick to take on a bad contract (that was #25 was for), a fringe 4th line center to add to their stable of countless bottom six guys who don’t score and a lousy $1.15M in Cap Space for next year at the expense of adding Korpislo’s crap contract for the next 4 years? And get your head around this FACT Bruins homers and Don Sweeney Apologists The Bruins just got much worse in terms of talent in goal. Much worse. Even worse news, well besides that crap return for Ullmark? In 2024-25, the Bruins will be worse in goal than they were in 2023-24 because going from Ullmark to Korpisalo as the backup is the definition of getting worse…. The Bruins will pay more salary cap space to the goaltender position next year and they’ll be less talent in goal. Awesome, said no one with a brain So moving Ullmark did what to the goalie room in Boston? Again, next year their two goalies will combine for a cap number greater than Ullmark & Swayman’s did this past year and they will be worse at the position overall. Bruins homers. Try as you might. You can’t argue the above terrible TRUTHs!!! Korpisalo's contract is an albatross and he's terrible as a player 5x5 defensively Ottawa's numbers were very similar to Boston's this past season So all this homer nonsense stating that Ottawa’s defense was bad and that’s why Korpisalo stunk, All 100% WRONG and nothing but Don Sweeney and Bruins Homer Propaganda Ottawa’s faults this past season at the team level? Not a very deep roster, limited offense and bad special teams The one area Ottawa can hang their hat on because last off-season they made a commitment to improve it? 5x5 DEFENSE Ottawa: 15th in total 5x5 shots allowed. 22nd in 5x5 total scoring chances against Boston: 18th in total 5x5 shots allowed (so worse than Ottawa) and 17th in total 5x5 scoring chances just a few spots better than Ottawa Thus both Ottawa and Boston were basically close to league average in most 5x5 metrics defensively and in no shape or form was Ottawa worse than Boston defensively last year at 5x5 and the METRICS not OPINIONS, PROVE THAT!!!! The difference? Boston's goalies bailed them out repeatedly with elite, Top 5 league goaltending while Korpisalo was literally the absolute worst goalie in the entire NHL The value of taking on 75% of that crap contract of Korpisalo's for the next 4 friggin years is basically the 25th pick in the draft Again, to dump that kind of crap contract for a terrible player with too much money and term left on their deal, most teams would have to move a 1st round pick or a 2nd and or some prospects That's what happened here. The 1st round pick, #25, was given to Boston to take on Korpisalo’s crap contract for the next four years so stop saying Ullmark fetched a 1st round pick. He didn’t. Saying anything differently is tantamount to either flat out lying, ignorance or delusional Bruins homerism Not to mention, bottom of the first round draft picks typically take 3-5 years to develop into regular NHL players (if they do) and all they typically are are bottom 6 forwards or bottom pair D-men The Bruins 1st round picks in the numbers 25 to32 range under Don Sweeney going back to 2015? Beecher, Frederic. Two bottom six guys. So what are they even going to get with that 25th pick with Sweeney being the guy making the selection and how many years before that pick even plays a shift in Boston? And before dopes say Pasta was drafted with #25. Don Sweeney wasn’t the GM. So…. FACTS!!! No Opinions here: -NHL's worst draft capital situation for the last 6 or so years due to Sweeney pissing away all of their draft capital fixing his UFA, salary cap and drafting mistakes or chasing their latest playoff choke -Only drafted in the 1st round TWICE since 2018 Only drafted in the 2nd round THREE times since 2018 and it will be only three times again since 2018 after the 2025 draft too as the Bruins don’t have a 2nd rounder in that draft either First round picks since 2018? John Beecher (4th liner) and Fabian Lysell (trending towards being Don Sweeney's latest first round bust) -NHL's worst farm system that has never been ranked better than 26th in any year of Don Sweeney's tenure as GM and is currently ranked between 28th-32 and dead last in the NHL EVERYWHERE!!! -No real 1c or 2c on the team or in the organization. But no draft capital, the NHL's worst farm system, bottom of the league draft capital and not having a real 1c or 2c anywhere to be found.... All of that has been worth it because Don Sweeney's Bruins won a lot in the playoffs right? Um, nope. Actually they've been nothing but choking dogs in the playoffs under Sweeney: -8 of 9 years Don Sweeney's Bruins have failed to win more than one playoff round -ONE, 2nd round series win in 9 years as GM, ONE!!! So to sum up, the Ullmark trade sucks from a sheer value standpoint. If you actually know anything about player, contract or draft pick value in the NHL this wouldn't have to be explained Trade value wise, the Bruins got torched in this trade as the 1st's value is Korpisalo's contract, that's it. Thus again, Don Sweeney basically traded Linus Ullmark for a 4th liner with a year left on his deal to add to his stable of 50 bottom 6 forwards and a lousy $1M in Cap Space next year I’m sure we’ll all be looking back in 4 to 5 years when that #25 pick is finally tolling away on the Bruins 4th line and say damn, that Linus Ullmark trade really put us over the top Beyond laughable considering the value of the player traded (Ullmark) and what they received in return (garbage) which includes a goalie they’ll have to pay $3M for the next four years who was the NHL’s absolute worst net minder last year Defend this trade all you want to Bruins Homer Nation, lord knows you will but this trade stunk value wise, the Bruins didn’t get better now, they barely opened up any Cap and they’re stuck with the NHL’s worst goalie contract for the next four years. This is a loss, not a win Don Sweeney Apologist Society Members The only saving grace? This was probably the only deal out there for Ullmark after LA and NJ went poof? So take what you can get I guess. Super Winning GM of the Year strategy. Ye ole’ take what you can get dump of a trade The Bruins Farm System is rotten, so adding anything to it with that first round pick should make it better theoretically. Trade Grade?: Somewhere between an F+ and a D, well for Boston For Ottawa? Somewhere between a B and an A- Don Sweeney Strikes Again!!! #gmoftheyear 😂😂

So.much gnashing of teeth about this deal. We got a first rd pick back. We have 25 mil in cap space. We've got some good rookies that are either coming back like poitras, a center, and the defense is. Still very good. We don't have to break the bank and give 1 player 10 mil as an FA. Sweeney signed geekie last year at 2 mil and the guy was good. The panic is silly

Why doesn't Haggarty listen????... He is useless as an analyst.... Evan is saying If goalie Bob is soo good at working with goalies then you could have played Bussi 25 games at 750k instead of Korpisalo at 3m, The difference is another 2m and you'd have 4m in diff from Linus to Bussi to get another winger... The bruins at 4M could bring in someone like Duclair to replace Debrusk... He is so Short Sited it's not even funny. Then he goes on to say we can put Korpisalo in the AHL, But you need the cap saving on July 1st, not during the season. This was a useless trade... yes the 1st is great, Kastelic is good as well, but losing the cap space was a killer... and Now Bussi needs to be put on waivers and he will get claimed for sure.... so you lose cap space, you may lose Bussi, How is this not a terrible trade??
