Melissa Pinilla: I 100% agree. Its a shame how some people ignore their pups after they've had a baby. The poor pups are confused and it's really sad. It seems like Jen makes sure that Winnie is loved.

Winnie makes my heart smile! :) I have a shih tzu named Penny who I got 3 years ago and even after having a baby, Penny is still the light of my life just like Winnie is to you. Doggies (especially shih tzus) need lots of love and attention :). Winnie looks great. I remember watching all your Winnie videos when I first got my pup so an update was nice.

Good job! Winnie is adorable, no matter what the length of her hair. A year ago I adopted an 18 month old Coton de Tulear...they have a similar long hair look like Winnie. When I picked him up from the groomers they had given him a Schnauzer cut, because they weren't familiar with Cotons. I was really upset. I love Schnauzers, but that is a completely different dog. I decided to groom him myself and to keep him in long coat. Yes it is a lot of work and requires daily upkeep, but once I got a routine down it became almost meditative. All that to say "thank you". Your old grooming videos were extremely helpful to me. It was like my own little grooming school. I know you don't want to do grooming videos now, but I hope you change your mind. I would love to see an updated one.

I absolutely adore my little Bear! He's an all black 13-year-old Shih Tzu. He is my best buddy and we found out this spring that he has jaw cancer. I was devastated! I dove into research mode before making any decision and I was so glad I did because after using certain natural oils on his food for just 2 short months (and of course anti-inflammatory and Tramadol because he was still eating and didn't appear to be in pain except when barking) we were actually able to shrink his tumor to half the size it was!! I was shocked and just so grateful!! He is more than back to his old self now, he is back to barking at anything and everything (music to my ears), eating like a horse, and playing like a puppy! So...no I don't think you're odd or crazy for trimming Winnie yourself...our dogs are our family, our best friends. They deserve to have the same consideration as any other family member. Of course, that is just the opinion of this "crazy dog lady". LOL

I have been missing seeing Winnie! I lost my sweet little girl Chloe about a yr. ago and she and Winnie were about the same age. I love Winnie's haircut I use to trim Chloe's all the time. You are so right when you have the right kind of shears it makes a big difference! I use to keep her in the teddy bear cut. Please keep us updated on Winnie I love seeing her more!!

Love how mindful you are about Winne's wellbeing. You did a great job on her haircut. A family member has two shi tzus and she has kept their coats clipped short. They live in the country where there is lots of mud. Both doggies are very happy and their costs feel silky soft when I snuggle with them.. They love to snuggle 😊😊

She was gorgeous with the long hair and she still is now with short hair. She looks like a spunky little pup with the short hair too lol. So adorable. She's so lucky to have such a good mommy. My dog is a shih tzu mix, he's 10yrs old, and has beautiful long hair. It doesn't get has long as Winnie's and because he's a mix it isn't hair like Winnie. I tend to keep it on the short side and even shorter in the summer ( too hot in Vegas)

I was very happy to see this video. I have been agonizing over clipping one of my dogs. She's a bichon - wheaten terrior mix and I have let her hair grow long her whole life. She wears a pony tail on the top of her head and I have to comb out the rest of her coat often. She had been getting so long, she always looked wild. I got brave last week and tried the blending shears. She looks so much better and seems to feel much better. She runs around like a puppy again. Thanks for the Winnie update.

Thank you thank you! I also have a 7 year old shihtzu and I used to watch you when you first for Winnie then I lost track. Recently found you and I didn't see Winnie and was worried. She looks as sweet as ever. The all you for easing my kind with this video. I used to keep Meatballs hair longer too but he really doesn't like the grooming much anymore so I go shorter in the summer but then let it grow longer in the winter. He has that same beautiful coat at Winnie just in black and white. Happy she is happy!

I have a shih tzu and also cut his hair myself. When he was first adopted, we did try taking him to a groomer but after two bad experiences, I decided to do it myself. You will get the hang of cutting her hair in no time. Winnie looks good and I'm glad she likes it!

I just commented on Instagram before watching, too. Winnie looks so cute. Great video! I have to say it again, because I learned so much about grooming from you - thank you. My dog is 14 months and I groomed him since he was 9 weeks old. We are so tight and have such a close relationship (there might be bias, but I happen to get the world's best dog 🐶😉) and part of that I think is our grooming routine. Not sure why you feel iffy about the grooming videos, they were super helpful. Thanks for sharing, ... and yes Winnie looks like little pup again.

I'm a professional groomer and I also work at a vet clinic. I've been grooming 10 years. These babies feel so good after a grooming. They feel pretty. I've seen it first hand. Find a great groomer if you can't do it yourself and really look into the groomer, not all are good people, But most of us are❤

I've had to do the same with my Yorkie as he has aged. I noticed he too was not liking grooming and I was nervous to take him somewhere. I've been doing it my self since he was almost 8. Now that he is almost 13 I have had to go to more of a shaved look. He seems much more comfortable and that's what matters most to me. I live in Texas and the heat gets intense.

I know exactly where you are coming from with making the choice to trim your fur baby. My little man was getting matted fur on his back legs, like 20 minutes after being brushed, so I made the big decision to trim him. Now, 2 years on I couldn't imagine him any other way. Little Miss Winnie is just so super cute enjoy that little fluff ball.

Everybody should love their animals as much as you do Winnie... We learned the hard way to clip Lola ourselves when there was a miscommunication at the groomers. The "take off the bulk and clean it up" was understood as clip to the skin. I will spare everyone the verbage exchanged when we first saw the dog.... Lesson learned, we now clip Lola ourselves over the course of several days .
