I’m a saints fan and after his first preseason game, I loved what I saw out of Ian Book. He has an amazing ability to escape a collapsing pocket, yet he doesn’t leave the pocket too early like other qbs with his abilities. I love his energy and footwork. He is in constant motion and has amazing pocket awareness. Hopefully we can get Drew Brees to come in and give Ian some lessons because I think he would be a great qb with some guidance. We probably won’t have the same success this year as we’ve had in the past, but the future looks bright. I think we’ve got an absolute steal.

It's three things that I know about Norte Dame qbs, they have football IQs, precision passing skills, and arm strength. Book most likely will be the Saints future qb. He went from one gold team to another and I love it.

I’ve been watching Ian since he was a freshman in HS. My son had just moved in w/me and joined the local HS team. During their first fresh game there was one play where Ian made a fake on play action pass, but the way he made the fake caused my dad, who was there with me, and I to share a look like, “whoa.” One thing that may be overlooked is the competition Ian has faced starting in HS (then later at Notre Dame). In HS he went against players like Jake Browning, Jonah Williams, and Cameron Smith who were in his league at the same time and have since made it to the NFL. There are many others whom he faced in non-league games and /or playoffs who went on to play college or perhaps the pros. For non-league games, the coaching staff always looked for the toughest competition that would challenge them. Ian is who I was hoping the 49ers would pick in later rounds ( I believed SF really needed a corner in the first). I’m happy for Saints fans and Ian. He landed in the best spot for him to succeed. If he sits for a year or two then starts, I believe he will be a star in the NFL.

I know some of you out there in the world are going to laugh but I think Book is a clone of Joe Montana . They have the same throwing motion, same pocket movement skills , same arm , same accuracy , same swagger and they both never lose. When Joe was in the draft all those years ago he and Book were valued about the same to scouts . I am not saying Book is the next NFL Joe Montana but there are some wild similarities between both QBs . The one thing I know for sure is I doubt any team will dislike the choice they make when they chose Book in this coming draft . I look forward to his career to see how far the comparisons continue .

Watch Sean Payton get this guy and turn him into Drew Brees. Book is athletic, accurate, experienced, smart, he can throw 60+ yards, and he can throw on the run in either direction, he is tough, and never looked afraid to play, I think he will be in the NFL for a long time. 2nd round pick to the Saints would be my guess. Pittsburgh and New England are good places for him to land.

When I saw him play, I couldn't help but think of Connor Shaw, the South Carolina quarterback -- same height, same build. Not the biggest arms in the world, but they had the ability to extend plays or pick up solid yardage on designed QB runs with their incredible athleticism. Both were consummate winners in college, too. At least during the regular season.
