Winnipeg is the largest city of Manitoba, Canada. It is in the eastern prairie region of western Canada. It is often called the "Gateway to the West". Winnipeg is the seventh biggest city in Canada with a population of 633,451 people.
The name "Winnipeg" comes from the Cree word for "muddy waters." Winnipeg is at the place where the Red River and Assiniboine river join. That area is known as The Forks.
Winnipeg has four professional sports teams. The teams are the "Winnipeg Blue Bombers" who play football, the "Winnipeg Jets" who play hockey, the Winnipeg Goldeyes who play baseball and the Winnipeg Alliance FC who play soccer. Winnipeg has four universities: the University of Manitoba, the University of Winnipeg, Canadian Mennonite University and University of St. Boniface.
Winnipeg is in a very flat part of Canada. Winnipeg has four rivers in it. These rivers are the Red River, the Assiniboine River, the La Salle River, and the Seine River. Winnipeg has floods in spring a lot because it is in a very flat area that gets a lot of snow and rain. In winter, Winnipeg is cold and gets a lot of snow. The hottest day in Winnipeg was in the year 1936, when it was 42 degrees Celsius. The coldest day in Winnipeg was in the year 1879, when it was -47 degrees Celsius.

@UCMF2DIpJEAaazUpLt7_QREQ too many immigrants? You do know that without these immigrants the economy of this province, Manitoba, will go to down the drain? You sound like you dont know how economies work. Lets use Manitoba as an example. Every year Manitoba loses thousands of people due to interprovincial migration. In fact, one of the worst in the country. Winnipeg's population is about 800,00. Pretty small for a major city. The population growth is very slow since not a lot of people want to live here or want to stay here. Businesses invest in places where there are lots of foot traffic. Winnipeg struggles to keep people from leaving the city. That is one of the reasons why we dont have a lot big businesses investing here. Less businesses equals less opportunities. And if there are less people, how will the government pay for all the social services? You idiots are quick to blame immigrants when they are vital for this province's economy.

At the 2:43 mark, look to the left. That's 300 Main Street. At the time this video was shot, it was just in its early stages of development. Today (April 7, 2021), the high rise building at 300 Main (though still under construction) is the Tallest Building in Manitoba. It towers over 360 Main (The TD building) right next to it and the Bell MTS building just opposite at Main and Pioneer.

I live in winnipeg in the safer area, there's many beautiful places where I am as well. downtown may be a beautiful area, but one of the most dangerous places to go to and even live in, lots of crime and there are alot of homeless people and even gangs down in this area. I go downtown to just explore. I always stay in a vehicle though because there's always people who would try and follow you around or even try to take your stuff. So if anyone ever plans on going to the downtown area to explore please be careful and stay safe, we do have a lot of safe places here as well so not all of winnipeg is dangerous also amazing video!

@DaveGIS123
@DaveGIS123 3 жыл бұрын
@@cosslogan1043 In fairness, I've never lived in Saskatoon so I don't know what their transit is like. Winters in both cities are almost identical. There are more jobs in Winnipeg simply because the population is higher and the number of employers is bigger, but it really depends on the industry you're in. Saskatoon has more primary sector businesses but Winnipeg has more hi-tech jobs, like aerospace manufacturing. In fact, Winnipeg's economy is one of the most diversified in Canada en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winnipeg#Economy while Saskatoon's economy is more focussed on "potash, oil, and wheat" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saskatoon#Economy I hope this helps you.

@@DaveGIS123 thanks for the info. I'm looking at Calgary, Edmonton or somewhere in Ontario, though Ontario is very expensive. Winnipeg is less expensive but again the winters, crime and transit was a concern I had. Transit would be better in AB but maybe less jobs, not sure.

As someone that lives here that is the problem. There is nothing vibrant about the city (besides maybe the forks). The city is dead and there are very few jobs where you can move up in the world. Combine that with a dreary atmosphere most of the year and a high crime rate and you got a horrible place to live.
