So many closed minded ignorant people in here. Well guess what, not plowing sidewalks and bike lanes happens to violate section 8.2 of the Canadians with Disabilities Act therefor making what most citys do for plowing illegal. You can fight back

No need to be so prejudiced. My Bicycle is my only mode of transportation for work and errands. I can't afford a bus pass. That being said, I have no idea who the city is catering to, because packed snow has the most grip, and road salt will destroy a bicycle's exposed drive train. They just need to run the same machine they use on sidewalks to groom the cycling paths. If they're already there, they can just do both.

Hire a lawer and take legal action. Yes the Bike lane must be cleared at all times of snow and ice but also people who park and block the lane.

Ive gone and hired the Ontario Human Rights Commision, theyre free lawyers and since Equal Access is a part of the Canadians with Disabilities Act cities are breaking the law

Why is everyone siding with the city? In Vancouver (where we cannot survive winter at all), it's a LAW for people to be out shoveling as soon as it's done falling. Like, Vancouver SUCKS with snow and we are FORCED to remove it as soon as possible from the sidewalks... I thought Winnipeg would be better at that than us =/

Yours is a typical north American mentality. In Finland you can see so many people bike to school, college, work etc even in - 20 weather. But it is much easier for cities in Europe to clear snow as they don't have sprawling suburbs.

@@roshanramesh2634 north American’s bringing hardship to themselves with this mindset they have. I see so many young people who drive cheap sub 10k cars that are no fun to be in. If they decide to ride a bicycle in a city with good infrastructure, they would save at least 1k monthly. someone driving these cheap cars probably makes very little money, so pocketing 1-2k a month can be life changing, but they dont want to see it. Insurance companies and oil companies love it though.
