Winter Blast

Join Leigh and I as we fire up the Quad Bikes and attempt to drag in some foxes on a cold weekend away. If all else fails we'll see if we can whistle in a deer or two.

4 years later got the same fox caller the yellow T2 I have bought one of those off my brother and its just so handy having a Tenterfield whistle with a hooter on the side and the distance travels a lot further than u might think. T2 highly recommend absolute ripper of a caller.

Cheers Neil. It would have been nice to get a few more foxes but besides that one dog we shot during the day we never even bumped one out of the bracken. That is pretty unusual when you are riding around on the bikes. The little lithgow is a quality Aussie rifle that does shoot well. I also used the Federal 50gr ammo over the weekend which is extremely accurate out of that rifle. Didn't get the opportunity to test those on the foxes but they knocked over the rabbits with clean pass throughs as you would expect. Take care mate. Talk soon.

One thing I was taught a long time ago by an old soldier was when the weather was a bit wet, throw a condom over your barrel, keeps the water out and you can shoot threw it with no problems. Might look weird but hey.

Thanks mate. How interested the foxes are to the whistle can often come down to how many there are about. The more competition can often make them come in hard and fast whether it be Winter or Summer. In our case there literally wasn't a lot of foxes about.

Good to see you pair of larrikin's are still at it, I bought myself a little CZ457 22LR a couple of months back Steve, we have had a troublesome fox on our place for a while now , killing the neighbours chooks and ducks and then the it started on the neighbours lambs. I have tried whistling it up numerous times over the last 12 months or so but it was a cunning bugger and never gave me a clear shot at it, till this last long weekend just gone, suffice to say it won't be killing anymore lambs, I used the yellow whistle you have not the rabbit call the other distress call on it , that brought it unstuck gave me a great deal of satisfaction after all the time I put in on this damned pest to finally get him, and also to do it with the new rifle which is a cracker of a 22 , anyway thanks for sharing this vid with us glad to see you guys haven't lost your sense of humour.
