Thank you both for your lovely, cosy fireside book recommendations, I love the sound of them all which are so right up my street that I can’t believe I haven’t already come across them before. I have put them all on my ‘want to read’ list but have sent for Wolf Rider and The Woods in Winter. I have loved Cold Comfort Farm for many years now and have a vintage copy of the book plus a dvd of the BBC adaptation of it with Peter Eden as Seth and the wonderful Brian Blessed as Reuben who are members of the very talented cast.

I've just ordered the Woods in Winter and have The Witches of St Petersburg and the Secrets of Wishtide in my favourites list. Hope you both feel better soon. Having a heat wave here. I have lots of toad visitors. One lives in a wellington boot on my veranda. They love to live in boots. Make sure you have fresh water outside for the wildlife. I haven't read any of these books. On my list to hunt for in charity shops.
