It was also a smart decision to bring the big truck in case you got another call while you were out and didn't have to come all the way back to get it. Happy Birthday Dad🎂

First of all, belated Happy Birthday to your dad! I think that was the storm that we got to have the 4 seasons from - we had sunshine, it clouded over and hail that looked more like snow, then rain, then after a cold spell, the sun came back out (Spokane). Regarding the "bring the big truck because you could charge more" - I happen to agree with you - bring the vehicle that best suits YOUR needs at the moment, and in this case, the Zacklift was obviously the perfect rig to bring. Plus in the bizarre weather like that, overkill is a good thing.

Back in early 70s I did a lot of "tractor exchange". F750, with Holmes 600, loaded both ways. Company was in hurry to get driver/load moving, but getting back was not that critical. In snow I would run chain from right boom end to tow-bar, so that line was available for cars that slid off road.

Happy birthday to your Dad! Big truck was the best way to go as far as I'm concerned. You have auto chains and a big rig is easier to see from a distance so you can start slowing down sooner plus it made the pull easier and faster. All those things made it safer for all.

I think I understood some Spanish. "Spanish, Spanish, Spanish... Then more pulling." I don't speak Spanish, but I understood that last bit. As someone who barely speaks his first language, I found it admirable how you dealt with someone in trouble and can't ask for help. Always respectful to your customers. Some people here in England think anyone not understanding English is stupid and shouting English at them will make them do what you want. Just like that russian driver who tried to turn around and grounded on his first trip and he thought he was going to loose his job.
