I spent 2 nights in the forest recently near the small river. Sky was full of stars,we looked at starfall , had some wine near the fire. We built small camp and had a best weekend. Who needs the phone when you have forests,mountains, tents, fire, rivers,lakes, friends, stars, sunsets... this is what we all remember when we get old. +TA Outdoors - high five to you sir, big up from eastern europe. You actually didn’t quit teaching. You keep teaching us .

The stove brings back memories from my conscript days in Finland. It wasn't only once I heard some team burn their tent by an accident during a combat exercise. During winter though the stove was absolutely a lifesaver, if we managed to get it lit.

I must say I loved your little speech about getting off of social media and technology and building memories by getting out and about etc. I am a 58 year old man and getting out into the woods has always been the best memories of my life from a little boy through out the years til now. I have my grandparents to thank for that. You should feel good about recommending that to your viewers. God job.

Finally, someone on KZbin who is actually using the lavvu the right way out! The arm flaps on the outside to keep the rain out, and the extra bit of material at the top of the cape on the inside, so the side of the tent exposed to rain has as few seams as possible. It should also be worn that way round. That extra bit of material that lies around your shoulders stops the outer canvas from wearing out and acts as extra warmth and a waterproof layer. Well done 👍 that man!!!

THAT IS A STOVE! Walk-in campers (short hikers) will LOVE this: no fiddly, almost aluminum foil chimney pieces; sturdy side shelves for warming dishes and staging meals. Super-light is 'better than nothing' but a real stove provides superior comfort and performance. I am adding this stove to my favorites. I went straight to the maker's site and learned it has a matching oven option! I am guessing this will be a candidate for heating the Pallet Palace. Your philosophy is not a rant: it is 'spot on.' My lifetime relationship with my six-years younger brother was born when I took him camping. He was a youth and I was a teen...and another brother treated him like an unwelcome 'tag-along.' We had many fine camps later in life when he joined my family on state park/national forest trips. Happy Holidays to you and my 'favorite do-it-yourselfer!'

Awesome video. I know what it is like to camp in the woods in England, lived there for three years when I was a young lad. Went to school in Stratton 2,3 and 4th. Was in the scouts with my uncle john, winter camping, summer camping what an experience I will never forget. I now camp winter summer in the Rockies of Montana, Wyoming and Colorado. Here you always got to be on the lookout big game wildlife, firearms are a must, lions, bears, wolves. Love your videos, keep them coming.

I'm not convinced that CO (carbon monoxide) is a serious concern with a wood burning stove that has a flue to the outside. CO may be odorless but it is never going to be the only gas present in the wood fumes and you can smell those. I think the reason that CO is a concern with gas or alcohol stoves is that, since they don't produce copious quantities of smoke, we are much more likely to be careless about ventilation. Still - better safe than sorry. Keep up the good work, Mike. Can we expect a night in the TA Pallets (palace of pallets) soon?
@geraldhenrickson7472
@geraldhenrickson7472 6 жыл бұрын
There is a massive amount of misinformation about carbon monoxide and stoves. Some folks cannot read or watch about a wood or other stove without warning the user about its dangers. There are many reasons that folks succumb using stoves in small places and carbon monoxide is but one.
@RossKempOnYourMum01
@RossKempOnYourMum01 6 жыл бұрын
CO will form if the stove cannot get enough fresh air to burn the wood with. CO is a byproduct of combustion - CO2 is the main product, but if O2 is restricted more CO will form. Nothing to do with the type of wood being burned. Yeah, the fumes go outside because the flue terminates outside, BUT if the oxygen to the stove (coming in through the tent door and then in to the stove through the front grill) is RESTRICTED, then the flue can reverse (believe it or not) . Think of it like this, for gas/volume to go up and OUT via the flue, gas/volume has to come IN to the tent, otherwise there would be a vacuum. This is why the flue will stop evacuating the fumes if air cannot come in to the tent. SO if he hypothetically shut all doors/vents in the tent and sealed it airtight, the combustion process would go more and more "wrong", masses of CO would form AND the flue could reverse. We now have a suicide tent. Generally, sleeping in the same room as an open flued appliance such as this is a bad idea, and installing one in a bedroom has been illegal in the UK since the mid 80s I think. Look it's out in the woods and it's a small kilowatt appliance BUT I'd defo keep the CO alarm he uses in the video

Cool to see this here in my home town Forks, Wa USA. A small tent maker just set up business. Their tents and stoves look a lot like these. So very interested seeing how you get along with them.

I like this survivor / outdoorsman larping channel idea.... it’s like check out all these products I can use to camp one evening in the woods while I video each step and talk to the camera about how much I spent on every product and how well they work, it’s a interesting choice in a hobby had to take a while to plan on the 40 different things to take with you for the evening
