The model I have is a touch heavier than my other stoves, however, I always have it towing behind my snowmobile so a few extra pounds doesn't really matter. The convenience from using it certainly makes up for the extra 8-10 lbs👍👍

Chuck, my wife's grandparents had a log cottage built on a lake in the Laurentians north of Montreal in 1939. The lake is spring fed with absolute crystal clear water. Lake trout can be caught 50 yds. from the wharf. In 6 ft. of H20 you can dive down, feel and see the cold water vents gently shifting the sand granules on the bottom. In twenty ft. of H20 you can feel the cold on the surface as you swim into it. WAKE YOU RIGHT UP ! Keep well. Keeep safe, you and yours.

You are killing me Chuck. That was an awesome way to spend a couple days. There was nothing I enjoyed more at this time in the season than to go explore on a good hard crust, especially early morning, and sneak in and out of spots that were otherwise beyond our reach due to snow depth. I always found spring to be the best time to explore trails and the warm evening sun made it all the better. Few rides left in Lab West yet! Great find on that fountain of youth. Have never seen such a thing before. Near Buchans for a lot of years there have been abandoned diamond drill sites where the casing is left in the ground. I recall one in particular with an approx 3 inch pipe sticking a couple feet above ground and there is a steady stream of water rising from who knows how deep. That was the coolest water you could ever drink in summer and was always easy access all winter. Your video reminded me of that.

Hi Chuck, greetings from Willow, Alaska. This was a really nice video, the kind I like to watch. I bought an Eskimo tent a couple years back and turned it into a hot tent. This is the ultimate camping tent other than a Wall tent. I love your dog, what breed dog is he? I live off grid and I have a remote cabin that I travel to in Winter, takes 2 1/2 hrs. by snowmachine and 25 min. by floatplane, amazing, eh? I still have lots of snow here right now but, it's melting fast each sunny day. Take care and thanks for sharing. Oh yeah, that Spring? Doesn't get any better.

Do you use the articulating rear skid on your Skandic? Seems like it dug down a fair amount in reverse.
@ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Yes I do. It’s just that our snow is so powdery here it’s common for it to sink down in reverse. Plus I carry a fair bit of equipment in my cargo box, which tends to make it sink more as well

@@ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors I guess you can only expect so much from a snow machine in reverse! I just purchased an Expedition 1200 with the 154 x 20 inch articulating track so I'm excited to see how it performs.

Great video once again, wish I was there. Have you had any issues with the double sleighs? All the best,
@ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
No issues yet Bryan. I have two different hitches on two sleds and all working out great. I keep the second one light as possible. Good in that you can just take a medium sized sleigh with you (or a fishing dedicated one) once you get set up👍

One question----How come you buy all of that extra equipment to lay on top of the snow for the shove? You are on land and shovel out the snow from inside your tent. Then lay down your covers and pine limbs on the land for comfort?? Nevermind, I see that snow is really deep when you stuck those limbs into the snow. I understand now!! Thank you for your videos!! I really like them and get a lot of info from you!!!

No problem Kevin. And I’m glad you observed the depth of our snow. We get an average of 14 feet per year so it’s virtually impossible to shovel out for camping. Tks for tuning in👍

I want to get that stove with the water jacket. It'll be nice to have the hot water on demand,.

Yes Kevin I plan to get one as well....especially on longer trips. It's amazing how often you find yourself looking for a bit of hot water👍

That water looked good from my couch , I would be bottling it up for home ! Few questions .... does the snow ever leave 😂. And that’s a lot of snow still for end of April , it’s this a Normal winter ? Also do you need to wear helmets on sleds there ( just wondering of course ) or up to the person ? Also wondering why you don’t have a Grohmann knife from your visits to NS ! Another great video as always .
@ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
Haha...still a bit of snow but it's normal to have it until usually the third week of May or so. It goes real fast once it starts. It is not a legal requirement to wear helmets on snowmobiles here in NL. We do wear them however in high traffic areas like the groomed snowmobile trail system. And I don't own a Grohmann but I hope to someday!!👍👍

Chuck Porter - Everything Outdoors snow till the 3rd week of May ... oh my lol. I never knew that about the helmets, thanks for the answer. I picked up a grohmann , it was the seconds but what a knife , even Canada post thought so and got it here in record time lol

You should installed a motion camera (hunting) to see the bear when it leave the Den . Thank for the video
@ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
I really wanted to do that, but I guessed ( and was correct) I wouldn't get back to that spot for many weeks to come (and possible not even then as there's nor roads etc). That is why I kept going back there 5 different days....I hoped to see some movement...it is the perfect time for them to leave the dens here in Lab West....oh well, there's always next year!!👍
