Winter Camping On The Appalachian Trail

We took a road trip down to Virginia during the polar vortex for some winter camping along the Appalachian Trail. The Appalachian Mountains are full of supernatural belief and tales passed down through generations, often blending Native American, European, and African traditions. The region is known for its mysterious creatures, such as the "Wampus Cat," a shape-shifting feline, and the "Mothman," a large winged creature with glowing red eyes. The 'Bell Witch' (a famous poltergeist haunting in Tennessee) was even the story behind the movie, 'The Blair Witch project'. These stories often reflect the region's isolation and deep connection to the land, with many involving the supernatural as a force that shapes daily life. We head out for a cold, windy night of winter camping to find out for ourselves !

I was just showing them off to my spouse the other day telling him if he'd let his hair grow he might catch up with yours LOL Well the secret will be ours... Another awesome video guys! 😉 well done ! And camping in a tent in winter 🥶 I’m impressed!! I appreciate that you guys are smart thinkers and don’t take risks..like setting up camp earlier than planned and maybe not at the spot you originally thought. It’s all to easy to keep going just a bit more and then get in trouble. So hats off to you for being very wise! I think it’s a wonderful idea to do the PCT in the future.. I’ve been on sections but never did the whole thing so it would be fun to virtually join you guys if you decided to film your journey. … loved the diesel cam !!! Sooo funny! And “ welcome to our crib”😂😂” and “ yha ..when we are eating poison!”😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 what a nice treat today to get to watch a new adventure.. you guys made me so cold I had to go start a fire 😂 I was having sympathy shivers 🥶🥶🥶😂 Thanks guys! So cool to see you guys were in my favorite hiking grounds in Va. ❤ Mary’s Rock is no joke to hike despite the shortest distance, and those signs of no backcountry camping are all throughout the SNP at certain elevations. North loves the SNP to hike and explore. Beautiful views! So happy for you guys to get out and explore Va. 😊❤

Do you guys ever worry that your maybe pushing Diesel to much because he seems tired and older. I know he wants to be with you 24/7. But he seems so tired and just wanting to relax. @@sandyj8222 He's always our main concern. To be fair, Diesels had the 'old and tired' demeanor even as a puppy🤣 He's the most alive during these trips, we love seeing him always happy to be outside. This was also a pretty short hike, we've definitely cut down the lengths of hikes lately for him and know when he's had too much. We appreciate your concern for him ❤️

Who knows what might be in those woods but It's most likely it's the people you have to worry about. Bring protection everywhere ...no matter what. Bear spray or wasp spray in the eyes should help you get away.
