Winter circumnavigation of the Isle of Man 2023

So me and Steve Watt set off last weekend to do the circumnavigation of the Isle of Man as a winter expedition, we are thinking its probably a first for this time of year as in the earliest so far by kayak in winter, (the challenge is open for a winter circumnavigation) and for me in a handmade strip wood kayak and hand made wooden Greenland paddle, we had to retire two miles from the finish as the sea conditions to dangerous from the sound to port Erin but that’s a part we paddle all the time so no need to go finish that part, but we had a great time and other than a few still eddys it was mostly a force 3 to a force 5 round Spanish head before we finished and all below 5 degrees air temps, big achievement for me as Iv never done it before and in challenging conditions thanks to steve for guiding me round and making fantastic memories we had some great evenings by the fire cooking food and telling stories and was quite warm in the tents with warm sleeping bags, just very painfully cold setting up after a days paddle and getting changed in wet gear, happy days and great times #isleofman #circumnavigation #seakayak

Day 2 cronk to port mooar
Day 3 port mooar to brewery beach gansey
Day 4 just 1.5 hours from gansey to the sound
