Those were some beauties Dana ! It’s hard for me to put Stripers in the same family as Largemouth or Spots but they are definitely the hardest fighters of fish we call Bass. ( although I’ve never caught a Peacock Bass. ) Stay warm buddy.

I love catching fish of any species, but actually Stripers are a true bass and Largemouth's and Spots are sunfish. They are completely different altogether. I think Stripers are a bigger challenge and are probably my favorite fish to catch, although I love them all. I have had some of my best days catching White Bass, which are also right up at the top of the list for me, and Walleyes also. Hell, I have a blast catching Gar in the summers, which no-one else likes. I find that catching different species makes me a better fisherman - I learn something that can be applied to other species every time I go out. I have learned things that make me a better bass fisherman from catching Stripers and vise versa.

i agree dana. i usually target striper and spotted bass, but i pretty much love catching them all. hell, speaking of gar, i was catfishing one summer night off the main point at laurel park, and i caught a 21lb gar! took off like a boat lol.

Nice trip in those tough conditions. Always look forward to your posted videos. It is tough as well in NW AL. A 3lb 13 oz. bass in the creek has been my only highlight. Tight lines good sir .....

A 3lb 13 oz is a nice fish. I'll be filming at Guntersville in the next month or so. I'm hoping it warms up a bit first.

you ever target catfish dana? i ignore the channel catfish of course but i’ve figured out the flatheads REAL WELL on lanier. caught a few unofficial 50#+ records the past few years
@FCPFishing8 күн бұрын
No, I don't target them, but I catch quite a few. I like catching just about anything, but Cats are my least favorite to catch. They mess up a perfectly good hair jig with their toxic slime. You are more than welcome to catch all the Cats you want so they will leave me alone.

At least you got to play with a couple of big ones before the cold front hit!

Wish I could have caught more, but I can't complain.

Does the shad kill normally shut down the bite for a while?
@FCPFishing10 күн бұрын
It can, but I have seen it really turn the fish on too. It makes for an easy meal for the fish when the shad are not moving much.
