As always, another great instructional video..Question: regarding fish heading to deep water in winter transition stage, do crappie tend to head out of the creek arm like bass, or if the creek has water over 30 ft deep plus, will they "stay local" in the deeper water of the same creek arm...Thanks again. God Bless You and your family, sir...
@crushincrappie6525
@crushincrappie6525 8 ай бұрын
Excellent Question!! Sorry for just getting back!! Typically Crappies will move out of the Creek arms, even if the creek is deep , so as not to expend so much energy in moving water at colder temperature. The crappies will look for more stable water water conditions which usually present as deeper basins at about the 25 to 30ft mark where conditions are more stable, and the bottom forage hatches are close and they don't have to ex[pend as much energy for maintenance. Hope this helps!! Have you been out!! been real cold here! I'm hoping to get out soon in the dead of winter and try to get into'em!! Tight lines Sir!!! and as always!!! thanks for watching!!!

Awsome fishing but I have to say some things are not always the same on any given lake. On our lake here in Missouri. Truman lake. The water is 37 degree and the fish are up in 3-5 feet of water. You can catch them with a bobber if you want. They don't always go into the basin of a lake. I find more crappie in backs of coves than in the basin in winter. Also the reason you saw those fish from 10 feet deep is because the boat scares alot of the shallow ones off the cover. I experienced this with livescope. I would see fish 2 feet deep and once the boat gets close to them roughly 10 feet away. They are gone. You should get yourself a livescope. You will be amazed how much you learn about fish behavior. I learned so much about Crappie that I would've never known about. It's Awsome tool. 👍 Keep up the great content though!

Hi Ruben!! You're certainly correct my friend!! Everyday on the water is a "school" and while generally speaking, the fish suspend out more in the summer in winter - their habits can be completely non-familiar and is most certainly lake specific as you mentioned. I always check shallower then move deeper regardless of the season or bait movement. 37 degrees/3-5ft of water is definitely brow raising and I love it!! cause you just never know. The Temp on Caesars is 38 and the "Active" fish are 30ft down over 60ft of Water.. it's all about what they want and what's hospitable for them at any given time - predator fish chasing them withstanding 😀 Livescope indeed must yield so much in the way of fish behavior that you've learned - that's awesome stuff man!! keep learning! keep sharing!! thanks for stopping by and watching - I certainly appreciate your knowledge and feedback!!! tight lines Ruben - and thanks again for watching - cya again Soon!!

Hey man, I met you at the ramp at Caesars last fall, it was really nice meeting you as I have watched a ton of your videos! I am trying to learn this 3 jig system, and I have been throwing it with a slip bobber, adjusting my bobber stop for the water depth that I am fishing. I notice that you aren't using one...IDK how I missed that in the past! If you wouldn't mind sharing with me, and I totally get if you don't, how do you control your depth? Do you simply let that bottom jig rest on the bottom or are you holding it a certain distance off the bottom? Anything helps man! Love the videos and keep crushin some crappie.

@crushincrappie6525 Жыл бұрын
Hi Zach - great to hear from you man!! Great Question and It would be my pleasure to share with you how I measure my dept - super easy really!!! Firstly - I use my electronics to see exactly what dept the fish are holding. Let's say the fish are holding at 11 ft and I want to fish 1' above them at 10ft. Well I have 10' Jig poles.. I just let my line out until the bottom jig(triple jig setup) measures to the butt of the Rod. That way... I'm able to stay right above the Crappies. If the fish are holding at 16' , then I measure 10' and then drag my line out the distance between the reel and the first eyelet - which is about 2'. I do that twice and then half the distance to give me 15'... to fish right above the Crappie holding at 16' I hope that makes since Lol. I basically use my rod as a tape measure. Once I've got the fish dialed in then I fix my line around the line stop on the reel at a fixed dept - then I can cast without fear of going beyond the target dept. Let me know if I need to explain it differently and I'll put a video together to demonstrate it. I love the results I've gotten from the triple rig - I hope you get great results too! Hang in there - thanks for the question and thanks for watching!! Talk soon Sir!!

The bucks fragile rod I have in the 12ft size, it caught the largest smallmouth bass to date for me as the line was singing thru the small guides. 4lbs. I use it to dabble flooded brush along shore in spring., my favorite rod series from B n M is Sam Heaton super sensitive series..I have several awesome rods. Man right now in my area of Georgia, all the baitfish and crappie are 50 foot deep, water temp is 50s, wish they were as shallow as these. Went yesterday and caught about 25-30 nice ones, but bumping bottom on ledges at 50 foot is not really a easy way to fish. Great video loved it.😊
