That really is pretty countryside, considering it still looks nice in the wet & grey! I've not watched it all yet, but I'm thinking the little hut is a warming hut / restplace if the lock keepers house is at the other end of the set of locks. It would make sense to have a spot to get out of the weather and rest / cook a meal when you have to spend time so far from the house doing 15 locks... maybe an assistant or one of the children manned this section for the keeper and would stay there waiting for boats coming your direction? Small fireplace to warm and cook and room for chairs / benches and a small table etc. Dunno, but I'm going to imagine that's what it was for!

Nantwich, yup passed there a few times in days passed when i was moving up from Bristol. Been up North for 31 years now and love it. I must've just missed Henry yesterday morning up Pendle Hill. (I didn't go up far, just around the edge to Newchurch in Pendle).
