Looks like my daily routine except I don't shovel snow, run a generator, feed chickens or dogs or even cats, do laundry outside manually, walk down to a root cellar, or even do that much cooking...but other than that, we seem to mirror... LOL

Loneliness in wilderness and emptiness ... I was in Alaska before up to Yukon Territory . Driving RV with hubby and said to myself even given free the beauty of Alaska I won’t stay there .. those three words above describe anxiety and depression.. living in sun shine all year bring joy to my life . Why need winter ? But some maybe destined to be in Alaska but not me !

Their lives when they were young was much harder than my childhood was. Thank God for my old folks. I can stand here today and take of myself and not rely on others. It's requires even more preparation when a partner is involved. Your life partner MUST be on the same page as you as when it comes to live this lifestyle. Hello, I'm new to your channel. My husband and I enjoy watching your everyday adventures. We have lived in Costa Rica for about 3 years now. On one of you videos you were washing the clothes in a tubs. Here a lot of people don't have electricity or running water especially on the reservations. They have a washing machine that is solar powered and you fill it with a hose or buckets of water. The amazing thing is the spinner on it, your clothes are almost dry by the time it is done. I use this type of washing machine and love it. The simplicity and how clean the clothes get is amazing. We have to dry our clothes pretty fast in rainy season and the spinner on these are perfect for that. Did I mention it is made out of plastic otherwise it would rust pretty quick here. Thank you for vlogging your days.

I wonder how you tackle thing like bathing, skincare, contraceptives, and general small ailments like achy joints and colds. I assume you do it all naturally or on a budget. It would be interesting to hear you take on hygiene!

Well, they do make trips into town every few weeks (as seen in the video buying chicken feed). There are some things that are naturally made they can do at the cabin, but don't forget that once every few weeks they do get some supplies from town.

@@AJR-zg2py what about electricity ? How do they get electricity???? And what kind of jobs do people have in there?
@AJR-zg2py

@@apersiannihilist5632 Simple. The electricity is provided by solar panels, as seen in other videos - they even have a backup generator to maintain energy levels when needed (if their solar power station reserves run low). As for jobs... people would probably drive into town and work there. For Ariel and Eric, they've worked in California and bought their Alaska property after selling a property in Oregon. They also don't have children so they're in a much better position to save money. I'd imagine they also earn some ad revenue from KZbin on their vids. Property taxes for them would be so minimal and they don't need to worry about utilities. Their cost of living is VERY low - and the couple is certainly not hurting for money. They're set for a while.

I have a suggestion for your night heating... in the evening load your stove with some coal and hard wood atop, let ignite well and then turn down air-inlet to a minimum; it will keep you warm all night and it won't extinguish, so the next morning youwill still have tinder enough to re-start it.... ;-)

Bake the egg shells, crush them up and add them back into the chicken feed. They get back the lost calcium and it adds grit to their diet. And by baking the shells, the birds are less likely to eat their eggs.

Nice summery of your typical day. Did Eric lose the coin toss on who gets filmed taking a shower😂 Even though it wasn’t much of a fuss, glad to see Gunner isn’t the only dog who gets excite when they see other animals. Just last week Gunner was on the bow as we were getting ready to beach boat and a winter king salmon jumped out of the water. I though Gunner was going in after it. 😂

Got to love winter to live in interior Alaska (we do). This winter of 2020-21 we had the record longest stretch of days remaining below 40°F, which was 183 days in a row from October 11 through April 11. We had the snowiest February to April period on record, 54 inches and far above the normal of 16 inches. The snow on the ground in reached its greatest depth at 40 inches on April 4. A nice winter...no winter rains, sugar snow instead...easy to plow. Some outstanding northern lights displays during warm nights in April to finish up winter of 2020-21. Ice out at Nenana Friday, April 30, 2021.
