Our mushroom selection in the supermarket is nothing compared to what you forage for free. And, boy, did they look delicious! As I watch you grow your garden, and with happy animals around, it tells me that this is where it's at! Thank You!❤

I would suggest you to plant a lot of vegetables that can stay stored for longer, like onion, garlic, beans etc. Whatever you don't need for your consumption you can sell, and you're not in rush to sell it because it can be stored for a long time. Same for walnuts, hazelnuts etc. Walnuts would take few years to grow, hazelnuts are faster. Also if there is a market for the eggs, you have plenty of space to expand your chickens in number. See if there is interest in the area for preserved food, like jams, pickled veggies. Would be nice addition to your income. Thank you for taking the time to record it all, which makes it double job💚

When you tilled the soil around the trees to plant your beans and peas to improve your soil - I was thinking you have already done a good job in the past year enhancing your garden beds already. You both are great in how you manage your land, animals and gardens. Great video as always - many thanks.

@@portugalitis Exactly! ZERO fancy tools. Only rudimentary tools. No big box builders mart. A machete, hoe, plough, water buffalo. That's all the tools. And their little, even pre-school-age, kids doing the planting, harvesting, carrying stuff, making and tending fires, pounding the rice to free the kernels from the chafe, winnowing the rice, cooking the rice... right along side with their parents. From pre-dawn to lunch time. Then mid-afternoon til the day's jobs were completely done. I can tell that you both grew up similarly with your parents & grandparents💪🏻👨🏻‍🌾💪🏻👩🏻‍🌾.

All firewood needs a slated enclosure to allow wind to go into the pile while also having a roof over the piled wood, so that it dries proper and stays dry. It takes a lot of work to gather the wood and why waste your time doing it if you dont protect it. This of course is true for all tasks.
@portugalitis

We are aware of that, in Lithuanian we even got a word for fire wood shed 👍😁 this wood I have put on the pallet because there is no other place for it at the moment, when we start using stove obviously we will have were to store it

The potato bed we call it permaculture layers of hay cardboard organic compost manure ash , no dig some here use old tyres and add rings as needed , you can use the eyes of potato in saucer of water to sprout roots and plant , the tyres at harvest you just push the 4 high painted bright colour tyre stack over and gather the potato none chopped in half or speared by forks, the nitrogen fixers peas beans can be dug in before the seeds form it’s green manure adding structure and nitrogen as aposed to fertiliser / manures, loved your mushroom mania a nomination for academy award best actor in supporting role , at the moment on a serious note a dinner party has killed 3 people with dried death caps so in australia wild mushrooms are certainly off the menu it’s a conundrum she had made her husband ill before the breakup , killed the in-laws , dumped the dehydrator , but went past 2 waste depo’s & can’t remember the Chinese shop she bought them from , it’s ruined beef Wellington ever getting on a menu here for a while ,chooks 1st egg 👍they cackle when a egg layed so I go down to collect ASAP as I have 2 that have developed a taste for eggs and the only way to stop is , egg shell empty , fill with hot English mustard and Tabasco place gently and stand back to watch the Mexican chilli sprint , your girls look like they should be pumping out eggs , lovely video ❤❤❤

Hi, we would not use tyres for gardening, they are toxic, regarding the mushrooms it’s the same in every country, you have to know what you pick for eating, otherwise it can get dangerous, chickens are still young, I think only 2 of them started laying eggs so far 😁

You guys you know Portugal pulled the NHR. I was coming to buy a farm. But now I am waiting and cut my trip in Half and spending most of it in Italy. I will wait to see which Country I will move to by SPring and now waiting to sell my property then buy a property either in Portugal or Italy. I cannot afford to come to portugal at 60 before I am collecting retirement and pay large taxes. SO now I have to meet with a tax person in Italy, but I cannot get appointments becaue everyone is going crazy to get their NHR by years end. I just had a meeting with immigration lawyer in Italy and got all of my questions answered by him now if only I can get direct information about my personal situation with a tax experit in Portugal. Crazy country. Love watching your progress and that property next to you is divine, but alas your lame prime minister really did a number on a lot of us....Hugs and heres to a great winter season. Cheers. Gina in Upstate New York moving to Portugal or Italy by 2025....Life is delightful. by the way OMG those mushrooms look delish and that new garden divine...
