You are not a lazy gardener , far from it , you and Jason work very hard lots of up and down and hauling very physical in all kinds of weather, that's why you have such a beautiful home and garden.

Janey, you are not lazy, you are just becoming wiser with experience!

You are totally right. Janey and Jason have worked their tail ends off this passed year, I'm amazed and in awww. Both of them don't have one lazy bone in their whole body. ❤

I use GrowOya in my garden for years. One thing is the diameter of the Oya will determine the diameter it will water. Yours will only water to about a foot diameter, so 6 inches on each side. The larger ones can water out up to a diameter of 4 feet so 2 feet on each side. Make sure you water the soil well after installing the Oya or it will drain right out because the soil is dry.
@Plantasyraices2 күн бұрын
I love using Oyas. I would suggest that you water the tomatoes until their roots grow long enough to reach the Oyas. It may take them some time initially.

The purple leaves are indicative of a need for nutrients, recommend a liquid fertilizer be used for immediate uptake by the tomato plants. The sun gold plants will need a more substantial trellis (hortinova netting works great) as it grows or you will need to ensure you keep up with pruning which will decrease yield.

Hi Janey! Happy New Year to you and your family. I've been using ollas for three seasons. I grow in raised metal beds like your veggos and 5 gal black nursery pots. I'm about an hour south of you and like you, the summers are super hot. My ollas are very helpful with my peppers, tomatoes and summer squashes. I also use shade cloth to keep my plants from scalding. This combo has really helped me keep my plants moist. Thanks for the link. I plan to buy more for this spring/summer season!

Hi Janey🌺 .These ollas look wonderful for watering . I have used to my containers plastic bottles drip and they do well in summer time for a week . Happy new year to you and your family and Enjoy your time .♥️🎄🌟🎄🌟♥️

I used them last summer for the first time when we went away for a week. Used the Olla “plugs” with a water bottle tipped upside down inside. Also tried a wine bottle and it worked also, giving a longer period of water.

I used an olla in my strawberry planter this year and it worked so well! I planted a second container without an olla (just hand watered) for comparison, and those plants were tiny and hardly had any flowers or berries while the ones with the olla bloomed for weeks and weeks and produced lots of juicy fruit. Definitely want to get more of them!

Happy New Year Janey & Jason🎉 interesting experiment. I feel like the tomato plants needed to be watered in with a liquid fertilizer as well. Then the jugs for maintenance watering. But totally guessing there. I do not have a proper greenhouse. Just a shelving type unit with a plastic cover. Wind is an issue with it for sure.

I tried very small ollas when I overwintered a tropical hibiscus. They looked similar to an okra pod. I don’t think they were big enough. My hibiscus was always dry. You might want to check the moisture level occasionally.

I used Ollas last year in my raised beds around my tomatoes. What I found was that they had to be filled daily and with all the heat I couldn't keep the ground moist. I found them to be a failure. Good luck.

What zone are you in? I'm thinking about doing this in 9b/10 Florida. I have large pots planted with mostly Western direct sun all afternoon. Gets up to 103* some day. May go with a drip kit. Have not decided yet on my pots for veggies.
