Which hiking boots do you use and would you recommend them?

In winter i use Altberg Tethera all leather and will outlast me and the bonus of being Made in the UK Extra plus they do a wide and extra wide fitting too

2-3 years is ok. Older shoes that lasted longer were heavier and had harder materials, so you often sacrificed comfort (shock absorption). So I guess it’s a trade off.

Had the same issue with my Salomon’s. They started to separate on both boots where the foot bed met the uppers. Disappointed after just a few years.

Simon Have you recycled your christmas tree as a background? haha These type of shoes are always going to wear after a year to two I destroyed my Saloman on some rocks after a few months The Keen NXIS look like a good summer option for me, but as i need and prefer the ankle support I would go with the boots - Thanks Mate

Hi mate I use a pair of Salomon GTX boot, very comfy but not very waterproof also use a pair of Aku leather boot again comfy but a heavier boot.... But all boots and walking shoes take a hammering don't they!! Take care👍

@@SimonOutdoors I love my keen h2’s for summer and targhee 3’s for snow and would absolutely try these… if they were available without that logo emblazoned in such an impossible to miss way. I really just can’t get past it.

@@SimonOutdoors I’m not so keen on it 🤣 I’m not looking at anything specific. I love the h2’s for comfort and breathability but would love more breathability, if it exists with a similar amount of protection. Perhaps and unobtainable balance lol, plus my aesthetic requirements!

Exactly the same problem for me with the salamon’s. They are only 19 months old, disappointed as they are comfortable, not waterproof anymore as you say.

Winter hiking boots? I have issue with the title and discription. Both are shoes, regular height shoes, not even mids nevermind full standard height boots. If someone cant tell the difference in a shoe and boot, they know nothiong about what they are talking about. Got free shoes, this is the shill review i guess, thats the way it works.

you will lose grip on all footwear, slippy limestone, muddy fields etc, more to the point is how long the soles will last, which you wont know till wore them for a year.

@@SimonOutdoors ive got leather grisport hiking boots, the army used to use them,and i can see why, ive had them 7 years ish, and the soles are hardly even worn yet, ive gone through a few pairs on insoles, unfortunately you cant buy them now, these will last me some years yet, then it will be the dearest scarpa i can find.
