I was just thinking about your forever match yesterday. If you put your jute tinder inside an extendable metal tube (like the handle off a fly swatter), you can use your match plus you can use the tube to blow on your fires.

Seeing that lake frozen brought back memories of when i was at camp with my dad in mid November. It was many years ago. The last nite at camp it got clear and still. Morning came and it was -20C. I could not even pull the starter chord out of the Evinrude. I had to put the motor in the Sauna bath and defrost it. We went across the lake and left a perfect channel of broken ice the width of our boat. The ice was 10 cm thick or more. I tell you I was glad when we got to the truck. I was pretty scared. You dont last long in cold water and -20C.

Excellent coffee hack. I'm thinking since you've 2 pots anyway maybe boil I the other then pour over before you steep. You'll get more bang for your buck. If your titanium spoon don't stand up in your cup I ain't coffee yet. Plus the fur on your tongue is a nice bonus. Keeps your mouth warm. ;-) Gemütlichkeit brother.

The secret to getting tent pegs out of frozen ground is to first not pound them in all the way. When it comes time to remove them just give them a tap to break the grip the frozen ground has on them and they will pull right out.

I prefer to prepar portioned coffee/tea bag.. i take those paper filter.. take a butcher cord.. put the coffee in..make like a bigger tea back..and just soak and dump the whole thing... i dont like washing filters

Thanks for the tips on floating a stove and taking the stakes out when the tent is still warm. I was wondering what the temperature rating of your sleeping bag (or bags) that you bring for winter hot tent camping? I recently bought a 0 degree Fahrenheit synthetic mummy bag (I'm a cold sleeper) that was under $100, but it's kind of heavy and very bulky. But I can't afford a $700 0 degree mummy. I would like to maybe one day pack my gear in instead of car camping.

Thank you, I only own goose down bags and I sleep very warm so I typically use -10⁰c rated bags even if the temperatures are much colder I still sleep warm

@@Lonewolfwildcamping Thanks, so -10 C is 14 degrees F over here in the US. All the sleeping bags I've seen here start at 0, then 20,30,40 and 50F etc. I think I've seen 10 degree bags. Maybe the price of those aren't as bad 🤔 Been wanting to try a down bag for a long time. But I worry about keeping it dry and it being rendered useless. Guess I'll have to save up for one.
