Our first serious blast of cold weather is on the way, but not before we deal with thunderstorms first. We are getting all the animals fed and making plans for the sudden weather change. Thanks for watching, eat beef, and God bless!

Got around 9” in northern panhandle of WV. Did the same thing as you Bobby Lee. Got the cows moved to new strip of bales to carry them through the storm. Stay safe with the next storm coming through later in the week.

Just got in from putting round bales out. some if thise bale rings are heavy! Frozen ground here makes it a little easier to get around but dreading the mud thats surely to follow

Yep! It is nice when the ground gets hard, but melting snow always makes a muddy mess. Hay rings frozen to the ground definitely can be a hassle!

How often do you check cows during the winter and summer ? Since you have town job
@HurricaneCreekFarms
@HurricaneCreekFarms 2 күн бұрын
Generally, just once a day. During calving, it is more like 2 to 3 times daily. When we get a new group of stockers in, we will check them multiple times for the first few days.

Good morning, is that just corn you feed the cows in the morning?
@HurricaneCreekFarms
@HurricaneCreekFarms Күн бұрын
No, the cowherd and our calves on pasture/hay get just a little mixed feed from the local feed mill. The feeders do get a ration that is corn with a high protein pellet and soybean meal. Those may be the ones you’ve noticed getting the corn.
