I have a huge knitting plans, many of which I have purchased yarn for. I have found that for the most part I am a monogamous knitter. However, if I am going to and from work (1 1/2 train ride each way), I will cast on a simple pattern. Most likely a baby knit that doesn't grow to much. But my main everyday knit is on my couch. Once I finish that, I will cast on my next. Otherwise, nothing gets finished.

I really want to move towards this same approach. I find it so unsatisfying to work on a ton of stuff at once and finish nothing. I said it in my 2024 goals video, but a key intention for me this year is to be more focused so I can really complete things. So far it's working well. I do the same as you, with one smaller project that is mindless and transportable, and a larger sweater.

I'll knit blouse no. 2 with you in the spring. I deprioritised blouse no. 2 and its in hibernation until March 2024. I think @Laura Rochelle on youtube said the same thing in her podcast.

Hello Sheri. Welcome to podcasting. 🎉 I’m a new subscriber and am happy to find yet another Canadian. 😀 I just wanted to comment on the drops brushed alpaca silk. It’s actually an Aran wt although it doesn’t look like it. But the thicker “hairs” make it so. I am currently using it in one of Claire Garlands puppy patterns 🐕. It might make your garment too dense. As a substitute for the mohair, my LYS has Drops Kid Silk Uni Color which is much more economical - $12 as compared to $21 for Isager. Maybe this can be an option. It’s too pretty a sweater to give up. 😍

Thanks Annie! And nice to have a fellow Canadian watching 🇨🇦🇨🇦 I’ve decided to put the drops alpaca to use on a scarf which I’ll share in my next podcast. And for the soft loops I’m definitely going to invest in the mohair. Either drops or KFO but just need to decide if I hold it double or single. Will swatch

Woolfolk Får is pronounced like "fore/for". That å is a Swedish O. 😊 and the word means sheep. 😊 I think drops brushed alpaca silk is a lovely soft yarn, but it pills more than mohair. I'm thinking about a Lento in dress length in it, combined with a fingering weight yarn.

Thanks for the pronunciation Annika! Lento in dress length would be so nice. I need to find a use for my brushed alpaca, ideally without pairing it with anything

That’s definitely the plan for winter knitting. Take on less projects, finish more, and make things they bring me joy 🤗

Hi Sheri, thanks for another great podcast. I enjoy your style and aesthetic. I just completed the Gallant Sweater Mohair Edition and I have to say…..I love it. Such a relaxing and easy knit and really enjoyed the Icord bindoff. I wasn’t sure how I felt about Drops Brushed Alpaca as I was knitting with it, but now that it is completed, soaked and blocked, I’m very pleased with it. (I’m always looking for substitutions for mohair, too scratchy for me) Looking forward to more podcasts and what you are knitting next. Happy Holidays!

Thanks Carolyn! I’m really looking forward to starting the gallant, especially in the Woolfolk yarn I bought. And good to know your thoughts on the drops alpaca. I need to find a new purpose for the stuff I have as well!

There must be something about the fall/winter change that has people wanting to do ALL the texture knits because I'm realizing everything I'm working on right now is textured and suspect will be doing a 180 in the near future and cast on colour/stockinette too! I love this round up, the Gallant Sweater Mohair by Caidree has a stunning look!! Best of luck with yarn chicken for that one :P Keep us posted!!

I hope you get lots of knitting time! A question, that you may have answered in an episode I haven’t watched yet, but are you in Europe permanently or will you be moving back to Canada at some point?
@Goodknits_

Good question and I haven’t mentioned that before. We intend to stay in Amsterdam or at least Europe for the foreseeable future. Maybe one day moving closer to sun and the water, but likely not back to Canada. But you never know!

Try soaking the burgundy swatch in very hot water, don’t agitate, I find this really softens rustic yarn. Cheers

I think we may want to rethink the phrase "selfish knitting" and use "self care knitting" instead. A lot of us take care of and knit for others without taking the time to take care of ourselves. 😊
