I very rarely fish over winter...at my age, I've become a fair weather fisherman. Are Pollack good eating? We don't have them here in Maryland. That seemed like a nasty fall but you didn't drop your rod 👍🏻. Looks like it was worth it, you caught 3. I really enjoy watching videos from other areas.

Hi Chris, I’ve never actually ate pollock before, but I could imagine them being quite nice, and as for the fall, my rod was a priority rather than my body 😂😂 really appreciate your comment, what type of species do you fish for in Maryland?
@ChesapeakeChris
@ChesapeakeChris Жыл бұрын
@@theanglingfront My target fish is usually striped bass (in Maryland they call them rockfish). I also catch a lot of white perch, an occasional flounder or speckled trout and rarely a puppy drum or a bluefish. Keep the videos coming.

Hoping I can catch some here in Canada, it’s so cold but I just wanna catch a fish! Here we catch a species of wrasse called “cunners”, they will take any bait. Never catch em in the cold weather though in my experience.most people consider them to be trash fish, but some people will eat them.

Hi mick, this is a old rod, HTO urban finesse 7-17 gram to be precise, I’ve had it for 3/4 years now, it’s in my opinion one of the best LRF rods I’ve ever had, it cost me £35 and I’ve landed some nice fish on it over the past few years! Defiantly worth a look if you are in the market for a new set up 🤘🏻🎣

Shame this mark is always full of wee fanny's rubbish! used to produce some really good fish, I remember my mate caught a 3-4lb cod on his first cast ever at this mark in around 2012 on a tiny rod with a mepps spinner, we were back every weekend for months after that!

Thanks mate that’s awesome! I use a HTO urban finesse 7 - 17 gram rod, with a fox rage 2500 reel equipped with 8 pound Diawa sensor, again I personally think this is a versatile set up for pollock, sea trout and wrasse, also it’s a 2 piecer so it fits very well in my car, hope this helps

@@hesalovelybuoy5944 The biggest I’ve had on that HTO rod has been a 6 pound pollock, and for the braid, I honestly couldn’t give you advice as I don’t use braid, I always use monofilament line as it’s better for abrasion when fishing rocky areas 😀

I’m taking my son fishing on Sunday at loch long. We are staying at artgartan Could you recommend a spot? I’ve only got Shad style lures Would this be ok and would that get pollock? Thanks
@theanglingfront
@theanglingfront Ай бұрын
@@liammcvey6517 Yeah Liam, those lures are perfect! And I would suggest trying any rock face along the east side of Arrochar! Most places will hold pollock and wrasse! I personally haven’t caught a wrasse on lures yet, my go to is always Ragworm, but you never know, a place I like going to is a mark called the caves, it would be to hard to give you directions to it, but I’m pretty sure you might be able to find it using google! The only problem with fishing a Sunday is that it usually tends to be quite busy with folk, so getting a spot may be difficult, but hopefully the coldness puts some people off 😁 there’s also mackerel still getting caught also I hear
