Cammy, that was a good video. I always enjoy seeing the differences between the UK and Oz on livestock handling, production etc. Here we have PIC numbers rather than flock numbers, but based on you explanation I think they are essentially the same. The PIC (Property Identification Code) number relates to the property they were born. I also use the Shearwell EID tags and the Shearwell reader. I did not know about having the circular ring on top. That is an excellent tip, thank you!. I had noticed some of the tags do spin around. Here we do not have the second tag, only the one tag. Although I put in a non EID tag on the prime lambs to differentiate them from the Merino lambs when they come rushing down the draft at a thousand miles an hour.

Great videos, the subtitles are very helpful for us non-Scottish folk, although they probably take quite a bit of time to be put in. It's interesting to see how different sheep farming and farming in general can be from country to country. I was just wondering, if you ever use livestock guardian dogs in Scotland or UK in general like we have to, or you don't have many issues with predators?
@TheSheepGame4 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much. We don't need that here. We don't really have any predators that would tackle an adult sheep. Foxes and badgers would cause some issues at lambing time but apart from that I think we killed all the bears a while ago =D. Where are you farming?
@andreja83734 жыл бұрын
@@TheSheepGame I'm from Slovenia. I grew up on a farm, but unfortunately we don't farm much anymore so for the past 10 years we've been renting out our pastures to a local sheep farmer. @@TheSheepGame yeah, those dogs are amazing and can be a bit intimidating when they feel like their flock might be in danger. Fortunately the part of the country that I live at rarely has trouble with bears and wolves (they usually only pass through; other parts of Slovenia are a different story), so in this case they are used mostly as a precaution.
