Great video. Things are starting to get crazy weather wise. 👍🏻

Oh! I wonder if this explains why my planes auto pilot has been consistently flying the approach below glide slope recently. Not being able to intercept it until the final waypoint 4 miles away from the runway 🤔. I'm wondering if instead of adjusting each waypoint like you did in the video, wouldn't it be more efficient to adjust the baro altitude to compensate for the loss in altitude? Wouldn't that adjust all waypoints simultaneously?

Great video and definitely a great addition to what's in the FCOM supplementary procedures. One note, towards the approach you noted that VNAV was bringing you in a bit high. I've done some experimentation with cold weather corrections and it appears that MSFS does not model cold weather altimetry errors, therefore putting corrected values into the FMC will generate a VNAV profile that is slightly higher than what it should be. I've noticed even in extremely cold temperatures, an ILS glideslope will still put you bang on the uncorrected FAF crossing height. This makes life in the sim a bit nicer, cold weather correcting is tedious enough in real life :)

It used to be there in MSFS, at least last season. Did they break it? 😂
@Quotenwagnerianer2 жыл бұрын
It should be there. If it is not they did indeed break it and this should be reported.

Wouldn't it be nice for the controller to advise once you're at the holding point: "Tower, PMDG737, at holding point RW 18L, 30sec runup on runway required"?

If the temp on the ground is say minus 10 but it's clear skies would you still use eng anti ice just because it's simply so cold despite no precipitation? This is what confuses me as I flew out of Edmonton at these temps but it was clear and I left the anti ice off and the fenix alerted me on climb to have them on despite no clouds??
@A330Driver2 жыл бұрын
If there's no residuals of snow or ice on the ground as well which might freeze up on your plane then there's no reason to put Anti Ice on in such a situation. Criteria for usage of Anti ice expressively include BOTH temperatures in the icing range AND visible moisture. If either is not there, there is no reason to use anti ice.

Do you have to apply In flight temperature correction only for restricted altitudes during climb and descent or up till you change Baro to standard?
@A330Driver2 жыл бұрын
Anything below the corrected MSA needs correction.

That plus a temperature laps rate of .65°C/100m. There's quite a bit more in it but those make the important stuff for aviation.
