I was talking with a Michigan apple farmer he said to keep the deer away hang a bar of soap from the tree. He said they have no deer pressure as the deer don’t like the smell of soap. Thought I’d share.

I think we’re neighbors!! We have 2 blue heron that hang out on our pond, but every time I try to get pics, they take off. The side by side is too loud. The deer are stupid crazy here - so many of them. I counted 17 the other morning. Your dessert looked awesome!! Pumpkin is next up, on the preserving list. Thank you for another great VLOG.

Do you recommend the chain saw you are using? I know nothing about these things, but have a small fallen apple tree and don’t have the physical ability to hand saw. I’m not bothered by the trunk, but mostly clean up some limbs and use them for fire wood. Hep me! Hep me! 😊
@1870s Жыл бұрын
We love the little saw. We already had all the batteries / chargers for it, so for us it was affordable as we didn't have to buy all that extra stuff to go with it. www.homedepot.com/p/Milwaukee-M12-FUEL-12-Volt-Lithium-Ion-Brushless-Battery-6-in-HATCHET-Chainsaw-Kit-with-6-0-Ah-and-4-0-Ah-Battery-Charger-2527-21-48-11-2460/314276159

When you fence your baby trees, do you fasten them to the ground? If so, what do you use? Doesn't the wind knock them over if they aren't fastened? We have an orchard of 12 trees on about a quarter of an acre and we have fencing around ours but we use the plastic electric fence post that you push in with your foot to hold the fence up. Ours is on a hill and not on flat ground. So I know that makes a difference.
@1870s Жыл бұрын
Don't fasten them at all. a 3-4 foot ring seems plenty heavy enough. Never had one blow over.

Great video! Do you stake those cages into the ground? And if not, can't the deer just push them over off the trees? Just wondering. Fun interesting video again!
@1870s Жыл бұрын
Don't stake them, they have heavy enough so the wind doesn't bother then, and the deer just leave them be.

I just can't make myself eat goat. It's like eating the devil. Can't eat lamb either. It's like eating baby Jesus. Don't come for me. It's just how a perfectly, normal, well-adjusted, God- fearing girl, squirms over it. My husband laughs at me too. Y'all can, happily, have my portion! ❤❤ 🐐🐑
