Wow, I am drooling over this recipe (so jealous). I think I have seen some of your other crabbing videos, but now I realize how many you have including recipes. Looks like I am up for a marathon of crabbing videos, so please keep them coming they are very entertaining and informative. Take care and thanks for sharing.

What an incredible adventure this was. I love the surroundings and just how you feel emerging into the world of nature where things can stop you, but you have got to push and find a way. Thank you for bringing this up and creating an amazing video for us. Take care :)

Kind of a frittata? Cool! Don't know why you don't have the boat out, but you're doing pretty good from shore. Huge restraint not jumping in! I probably would have.

Thanks Ed! I wanted to get after some different crabbing this winter to try some new things. Always trying to learn. Crabbing with boat videos coming soon...

I suggested an omelet to you because there is something magical about the egg, cheese and crab combination that just ticks all those umami boxes just right! I'll be trying to crab snare down there this coming Wednesday but further up toward the mouth of the bay. Here's hoping the weather doesn't smack me down! I have a real treat of a recipe for you to try... It's one I've made for a little over a decade and it should really give you a big gastronomic delight (if you like guacamole, that is). Dungeness Crab Guacamole in Endive cups INGREDIENTS 2 medium ripe Hass avocados 3 medium garlic cloves, roasted* 1 medium jalapeños, roasted*, stem and seeds removed, then finely chopped 1/2 pound Dungeness crabmeat 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion 1 medium plum tomato, seeded/finely chopped 6 tablespoons fresh cilantro, finely chopped 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt 2 heads endive, leaves removed and edges trimmed (you essentially make little 'boats' with the individual endive leaves) 1 teaspoon extra-virgin olive oil INSTRUCTIONS Halve avocados, remove pits & skins, coarsely chop. (if you have one, place in a molcajete if you don't, place in a bowl) add roasted garlic to avocado and mash together until only small chunks remain. Add roasted jalapeño, crabmeat, onion, tomato, & 4 tablespoons of the cilantro. Add lime juice, salt and then stir gently until combined. Place endive leaves on a serving plate and dollop each with guacamole. In a small bowl, combine remaining 2 tablespoons cilantro & olive oil, season with salt, and stir until thoroughly mixed. Add a small bit of this atop the endive cup with dollop of guacamole and drizzle some oil on top of each endive 'cup'. *To roast the garlic and jalapeño, coat in vegetable or canola oil and place in a 500°F oven until the garlic is golden brown and the jalapeño skin is blistered and blackened.

Advice: don't go crabbin in winter. Those rocks can be like glass. Especially by yourself.
