You should do a video about how you got started in dermatology and how you got to where your at today. Talking about what inspired you to pursue dermatology and what you had to go though. I believe it will be a pretty interesting video and it will inspire those how are interested in pursuing the career. I also watch you videos, sometimes even binge watch on the daily. I have learned so much about the skin ever since I started watching you, it's almost as if I have a personal dermatologist. Thank you for your wisdom and knowledge, I have actually noticed a difference in my skin just by listing to your videos and taking action.

I went to see my 10 yr old grandson in Boston. I noticed his bottom lip looked dry/cracked (dry heat) and could tell he had been licking it. Luckily I had a small tube of CeraVe Healing Ointment (thanks to you). I explained to him what was going on and to try the ointment. He did and overnight he saw how much it helped. I left the tube with him, next to his toothbrush so he would be reminded to use it twice a day. Thanks Andrea!

My children & I have been to some of the best dermatologists in our country. These doctors have been amazing to work with. Both girls were in the clinical trials for tacrolimus after being diagnosed as two of the most severe cases of eczema documented. Resistant to treatment and complicated by open wounds leading to infection and hospitalization. Despite these events, I've learned more from your channel and now have an explanation about what is happening to the dermis and epidermis as well as understanding the job of the stratum corneum and how it can be comprised. I never heard of the term transepidermal water loss until your channel. You sharing your expertise in the field really makes a difference. I'm sure there are many people like myself who have experienced a lack of attention our skin conditions receieve from our primary doctors. I am amazed that our skin does not receive the attention and respect I believe it deserves. After all it is our largest organ. I hope your channel will start to change how we look at our skin. Please keep sharing this information. It truly is invaluable. Thank you Dr. Dray

Good stuff Dr Dray. I have to keep reminding myself these tips and knowledge. I took a really hot long shower the other night and didn’t apply moisturizer and I felt the effects almost immediately, the slight itch was my first indication. I know better than that, but I gave in to the sirens call of the pleasures of that shower, and laziness did me in in not applying moisturizer. However, I am getting better and more aware of my actions.

Thanks for the suggestion of applying an ointment to areas of exposure during winter. We've been having an arctic blast this week, temps outside are -50 with high winds. I've been using the CeraVe healing ointment all around my eyes when I go out and it has probably helped to prevent frostbite when my eyes are tearing from the wind. A side note, I've been using the healing ointment on our dog who gets severe chapped skin on her abdomen and inner thighs when it's this cold (she's short haired and pretty much nude on her underside). It's helping to heal her chapped skin as well.

Not to mention it is better for your plumbing and appliances. Enjoy the weekend.

I dread taking a shower but I have to every day because I can’t wash my face in the basin because it’s the hard water. I cannot wait to move

I am glad you mentioned something about the shower head. My son is moving to his college condo this next summer and he has sensitive skin. He was thinking about getting one of those shower heads. He is living at home his first year and has already said how he is going to miss the soft water. When we have traveled to other places we all say how we can't wait to get back home to our soft water. We might try to see about having a unit installed in the condo for him.

@@leslieprebyl6238 I'm the other way, I cannot wait to travel because I know it will be a temporary relief for my skin. Please reply if/when you install a unit. I have been wanting to know the possibilities to do so within my own apartment. Do you live in America?
@leslieprebyl62386 жыл бұрын
Yes, we live in the states. The difference is that we actually bought a condo for my son, so we own the place. Therefore, we can make any modifications we need to. Living in an apartment where you rent, I don't think you can do that as easily. If you have your own water tank in your apartment and it isn't one for the whole building, here in the states we have companies you can rent a softer from and they will service it also as needed. You might check into that and see if that is a possibility. I am so sorry you have to deal with skin issues. Maybe some of Dr. Dray's tips will help. Take care.

Aveeno is a soap free body wash. I've used Aveeno fragrance from body wash for years and it is works great for my dry sensitive skin. I use Cerave body cream for moisturizer. Tfs!
@suzannecross40896 жыл бұрын
Very helpful, thank you! I wish someone would invent a long reaching tool to put moisturizer on the triangle between shoulder blades and going down the back. In the winter here in DC, that section of my back gets itchy small red bumps here where I obviously can't reach myself with moisturizer. (This then turns into post-inflammatory hyper-pigmentation) Water becomes my enemy as it gets drier and drier and I actually loathe the shower at this time, so I'm totally on board with short, tepid showers! This also happens in the summer in dry climates as well, such as Montana. I also get the little red bumps on my chest and thighs. I've never been diagnosed with eczema, but I treat it as if I do with the Cerave Anti-Itch Cream you mention, the ointments, and in the past, I've been prescribed the same medication often used for poison ivy (cannot recall the name). Literally several doctors consider me a mystery!

That’s so neat you mentioned that about the fabric barrier. A few times in my life I over did it and chemically burnt my face with acne fighting products. To heal the abused skin I found little dehydrated cloth masks at TJ Maxx. They came in little containers and once rehydrated with water they came to full face size. I would then apply layers of raw aloe pulp to my face and then seal it with the cloth. From time to time reapplying alow to the outside of the cloth and it in fact healed my skin in record time.

Good heavens, what a wonderfully explained and helpful video! I didn’t know about the do it yourself masks before. I’ve shied away from masks because Of sensitivities, but now that I know about using my own stuff, I’m in it! Just ordered the masks, and I’m planning many luxurious moments ahead with my cerave! 🙏🙏😘😘

I have been binge watching your videos today..I have found that I am doing some things great, and then some things I will need to rethink, lol...thanks for all your great medical advise on so many hyped up products...especially the products that are so expensive and really don't do anything, or could make things worse...I love hearing about ingredients that are in the things we are putting on our body..from head to toe...thanks so much, and have a happy new year...

Help! My skin has improved since I started applying moisturizer to wet skin but it takes my skin forever to air dry! I freeze to death. Why does it take so long?? Can I at least blot with a towel after the moisturizer? Lol. I am desperate here. Your videos just get better and better.

Same here. I can't do the whole wet skin moisturizing at all. :/

I’d love to know your thoughts on the best tinted sunscreens, tinted moisturizers, etc, for those of us who don’t love going completely barefaced :)
@goingplaces4086 жыл бұрын
Kristyn McKenna awesome thanks! I didn’t know cetaphil made a tinted one. I love the videos where she analyzes the ingredients of a bunch of products at once and gives pros and cons of them all 🤗 so I’d love to see one of those about tinted products

Dangit I didn’t realize she had a video on her favorite tinted spfs already 🤦🏻♀️ ok so then I amend my request to tinted moisturizers!

Your skin is so pretty Dr. Dray 😍 My skin gets so dry when I swim and sit in the sauna at my local fitness center !!!! I put Vanicream on after I shower. It helps a bit!

The loofah is now in the trash! YIKES! I will say that while I was healing I put nothing on my face. No make up, no masks, no scrubs, no cleansers. I used a damp cloth and then my moisturizer and my skin looked amazing. My nose not so much, but my skin was actually glowing. But, I do have a humidifier in my bedroom as well. Great information as usual! Thank you!

Does the humidifier make a difference for you compared to when you don't use it?
@zlifehomestead97726 жыл бұрын
Meme Rod Yes, very much. The older I get the dryer I get so adding this about 5 weeks ago has helped. I did it specifically thinking it would help my mouth breathing and dryness after having septoplasty. Admitadely, there are some variables, but I do feel like it's helping.

I found the vanicream cream moisturizer is too thick for my skin. It gets so easily congested and will feel rather dry even after applying. But.. I have repurposed the cream to use as a precleanser. If you damp your hands after applying a little moisturizer, it has slip to it and removes makeup decently. It works for me haha. Loved this video though, and I love vanicream

Vanicream products have an antiperspirant, and sunscreen line as well as all the other fragrance free parabin free lanolin free products offered that are wonderful for the skin and don't have all the negative ingredients that eventually take away positive elements in the skin that most commercial products do.

wish you would have showed us the masks! As someone from the north, I will say the best way to put lotion is in the shower. The Jergens in shower lotion is amazing. That lotion is meant to be used in the shower to capture the water so you never wipe the water off. Very silky.

Good morning Dr. Dray. As a dermatologist, is there something you can recommend for intimate care?
@eneydita6 жыл бұрын
She said in a comment above she doesn't recommend anything. For what I've experienced it depends on what your body can tolerate. You don't need anything to clean because vaginas are self cleaning but if you want to clean the outside you can wait until the end when the water has softened everything and just clean with the tip of your fingers and water. If you want to use some kind of a soap and your body can tolerate it, make sure it's fragrance free, essential oil free and doesn't have sodium lauryl sulfate. I actually use the same soap I use on my face for my lady parts because it's that gentle. I buy the 16 oz bottle of cleanser from acne.org.
