I love the Ribble, I'm so glad it has got back to a mature river again. We all know how the Cormorants killed it, however I do worry about the otters that have been released, where I walk not far from my house I see signs of them. I have to be positive and your vblogs have kept me going in what has been a tough year for Christine and myself, she bought me two rods and a shed full of jigs, and lures. So I fancy a start this year looking for some big perch. Thanks again Danny your a super star 🌟

i have seen otters and mink in this area and have heard the sories how the river historically was a chub river mainly and the chan ge that happened, we can only hope the balance is now found there is certainly a lot of fish ion the system. Hope 2024 is a better year mate have say personally glad see back 2023. hope you get your big perch matey

No otters have been released onto the River Ribble! There has always been otters historically on the Ribble. Also, plenty of chub to be caught if targeted in the right areas. The river did go though some big changes as did most rivers in the UK. Polution and the end of the natural life cycle of several exceptional year classes of fish ended the bumper years in the 1980s and 90s. The cormorants are still there. However, for more than 10 years. The roach fishing has been exceptional on the Ribble. Still plenty of dace, chub, barbel and other species in the right areas. Great blog as normal, Danny. Hi Danny. It’s interesting to see you still using hemp as an attractor in the winter months. Down here on the south coast chalkstreams, there’s a tendency to use hemp through summer and autumn. Come late October hemp is left in the freezer
