Now then. I am now 72 and Fished my local Avon around Ringwood for more years than i can remember. I have never watched Des before but i have learnt more about Barbel fishing in 2 hrs than hours and hours from other Anglers. Best of both worlds. James Robins fabulous Matchman and Des Taylor. Brilliant video

A brilliant watch! Love to see Des on the river bank, I've been following him for years. And James is so humble, an excellent angler in his own right and the nicest guy you're ever likely to meet. The new Cadence specimen rods are superb too, very nice actions that cast so well and yet are still a joy to use - remind me of the Carbonactive blanks from years ago.

I feel the need to comment , Des has always been such a creative and inspirational angler for me. He's a thinking angler and in my opinion what has made him so successful is his confidence not too follow the crowd. He has always had confidence to keep things simple and be creative. Equally he doesn't shy away from modern developments... Plus it's easy to loose sight of just how professional and natural he is infront of the camera. Thanks for sharing this video.

Some great advice from both Des and Chappie. Lovely stuff, thank you. I used to live just a few miles from that stretch of the Severn. I moved to Yorkshire before starting fishing again many years later. Sometimes I wish I was still there, I miss that river!

Great video. No fish, but that means nothing when Des Taylor is spilling his wisdom for our use, I've long admired our Des for his up front honest tip delivered in his wonderful blunt way, that never dresses up his words with ribbons and rosettes. Just good advice learned from many years spent in the hard knocks institute of good angling. As for those rods, aren't they so very pretty. Real eye candy.

The cadence chap James is probably one of the best fishermen you will see on KZbin, I know he probably did not want to step on anytoes but I would have liked to have seen him knuckle down and get stuck in on the barbel with his methods. I know this is to promote the rod which are great btw but you cant beat a bit of healthy competition. Maybe on the next one.

James tried his best to catch something on the day, but it proved tough for both of them. We didn't want to waste the day so added a teaser for better times ahead this summer with Des returning a lovely fish. We'll return and no doubt have a fish filled session in June

The tinge of green on our stretch of the upper severn in wales is often the curse of death. Tends to fish better for barbel when varying degrees of brown or after the green tinge when its greying down to clear. Going to put a few tips of Des when we are allowed back in to wales to fish....looks like after the close season now..

No, a lot further downstream. It’s called the ‘meadow’, the last few pegs of the Rowley Angling Club and its great all year round stretch of the river, especially in the Winter.

Great video... Do you think the close season should be shortened a bit? Or is it perfect the way it is now to keep fish populations healthy?
@cadencefishinguk3 жыл бұрын
Ask around and opinions will vary. Personally, I think it should be scrapped with perhaps a keep net ban enforced between the dates. James I think agrees with it being changed/scrapped. However, there are plenty of places to fish, so we have to accept for now. But what a lovely time of year we miss out on by the rivers, unless you fish for eels and game fish.
@mickbrooks81143 жыл бұрын
Think it should go proved it worked on natural venues over years
@shropshireladoutdoors7433 жыл бұрын
The closed season was devised to keep us rif raf of the river while the salmon ran up the river so the only people on the river would be the gentry salmon fishing its a class thing

@@shropshireladoutdoors743 and probably why it will stay in place, despite no real evidence to support it🙄

@@cadencefishinguk here on the severn there is a call to stop taking salmon and to return them and even stop fishing altogether if that's the case we should be allowed to carry on fishing but it's not just fish it's the fauna and flora that has a chance to breed and grow without people 😀 and that can't be bad

Andrew, we do recognise how essential a fish being caught is to a video presentation. However, we all blank from time to time. It would appear the majority of viewers have enjoyed this video so far, but we can also accept the viewpoint you have expressed, and we know we can't please everyone everytime. Keep the faith 👍Cheers. Chappy
