Willow smells things in the air and wonders where they are. Just like a teething baby; always chewing on something. She has such a beautiful face 😍 I had to laugh when she grabbed the stick. My friends golden, Tara, sheesh. A bunch of us were together with our dogs at Ice House Lk. And we were throwing a stick for them. Tara comes along the shoreline bringing us a tree!! We fell over laughing. It was so funny. A big tree. Silly girl.

No FI collar . I don’t think it’s necessary. Have you actually let the dog run free in the woods? Running away and not coming back goes against the breed’s genetics. Use a long line and keep calling the dog back throughout the walk. Incorporate a whistle if the dog’s range is farther than you feel comfortable. Field bred golden retrievers are great!

I have tried letting her run free in the woods and she ran away so it wasn't a great trust building exercise but I could try the long leed and see what happens. Thanks for the suggestion.
