Pampano is jammed up....I used to catch em on a short saltwater jighead with.a crab color sacalet jig...bass assassin.....pan fried...salt and pepper.....one of the best fish in the world

Sure, rod and reel, sand spike, leaders with hooks, pyramid weights, fishbites/bait. That should get you started. Should be some pompano around then so you might want a sand flea rake too.

I was at Miramar last Spring and the surf fishing was fantastic. A couple really good local tackle shops. Got into a lot of Pompano. Sand flea fish bites on pomp rigs

how important are the yellow floats on the rig?

Normally I use Frisky Fins pompano rigs, which are very high quality. I grabbed the wrong bag that day, so I had to use Walmart pomp rigs. The floats prevent live sand fleas from burying themselves in the sand after you cast out. So if you are using live sand fleas they are important.

First time salt water fishing from pier, need help. I will be fishing in SC the entire month of Feb. Is it possible to get sand flees then? I will be fish off a pier, don't care what I catch it will all be all C&R. Am I wasting my time or is their fish to catch? When I went down there last year I didn't see a single person fishing.

Reels are Penn slammer 4500's 2 reels have 15lb Beyond Braid line and the other has 20lb mono.
