The Alenza and Potenza are interesting, but nothing beats a dedicated winter tire. Blizzak for me in Michigan.

Same. I have DM-V2s on my Subaru and my Audi and they're great, but am looking at the Alenza as my 3-season tire so I don't have to break out the DM-V2s just due to temps dropping below 40 overnight as they do for quite a while without snow or ice here since my dedicated summers don't like the cold. Looks like a solid choice!

The duo over at Everyday Driver (Todd and Paul) did this comparo between a miata/mx-5 (winters) and a Nissan Rogue AWD (all-seasons)...to prove that you don't have to give a sporty rwd car in the winter. The MX-5 trounced the Rogue in each of their tests proving it is not how many wheels are driven, but the tires you are using. The MX-5 exhibited more control/predictably when it was slippery.

The first thing I did with my 22 MDX was to get rid of those Alenza tires, they are not good for our Canadian winters, I switched to all weather tires and together with MDX’s SH-AWD they work great in winter, and I can keep them on all year around

“When you hear the rumble, that’s your terminal understeer. Only way to get out of that is to straighten the wheel.” Literally finishes saying that as you get out of it by not straightening the wheel, but allowing the ABS/TC systems to do their job and turning in harder lol. Guy was a bit pushy, they gotta be careful who they pick to work these events and they generally do a good job but this guy should have realized you know what you’re doing and shut up to let you really experience it for yourself 😂 I understand they’re there to make sure everything goes smoothly and no damage or injury but
