If you live somewhere that has all 4 seasons, it's hard to beat the Michelin Cross Climate 2's. Only tire I've found that inspires confidence in all conditions. A little more road noise at higher speeds is the tradeoff.

Yeah seems like tops for all around, "all season/weather" tires, specially winter performance but the Cross Climate can wear faster as well under certain or extreme driving conditions and are not the best for fuel effiency...😉

Ms. Fadra, thanks, I enjoyed the video. I'm not writing this as an endorsement for Bridgestone, simply wanted to underline that I agree with your statement about factory mounted tires. I purchased a new Honda Accord sedan in Feb. of 2016 - it sported Michelin and while new they preformed well in all aspects; plus I had used Michelin in the past on other vehicles with satisfaction. However after nearly three years and approximately 20K miles, even though they still had sufficient tread, I noticed that they were beginning to lose grip when wet and especially in curves. During my research, I discovered, as you had, that brand named tires acquired in bulk by auto manufacturers are not identical to the same brand tires available for purchase by the general public. Like you, I too did quite a bit of comparison and found Bridgestone Turanza Quiettrack 'checked all the boxes' for my car and driving habits. The first thing I noticed was that the Bridgestones were much quieter/smoother than the Michelin which came with the car. Four years later, I'm still pleased with Turanza.

Thanks for sharing. Not knocking Pirelli but my eyes were opened as well to the difference between OEM tires and aftermarket tires. I’m so thrilled with the Bridgestone Alenzas.

Also if you buy a new car every thing is stiff, suspension, brakes etc So if you had those non-OEM tires you would not enjoy how stiff the ride was. You might not even buy the car. Car manufacturers know what they are doing, they give the tire manufacturer the specs they want to achieve a comfortable test drive So now that you are buying off the shelf you are putting it on a vehicle that has been driven and the brakes and suspension is softer so the tires seem more comfortable

tread wear cannot be compared from brand to brand. A 500 A A tire from brand X may wear faster than a 460 A A tire from Brand Y despite the '500' rating. Tread wear can only be compared to other tires from the same brand as it is a rating of wear from the (brand's) control tire. Even though Tire rack explains this, a lot of ppl still compare treadwear ratings. I look at the rated mileage warranty and the traction (AA, A, B) and the temperature (AA, A, B) ratings more than treadwear numbers.... Oh, I also look at price. Toyo, General, or Michelin for my current garage....

Great review! Had a 22 of the same car and regarding the road noise, it does not help that the car does not have acoustic glass, a big miss by Volvo IMHO.

Alenza is actually a very popular OEM right now, it does have some issues… I would recommend the Pirelli AS 3 Plus or the Continental LX25. OEM uses a softer compound so it’s a smoother ride. Yes smooth means you buy the car but it is going to get louder after 20K. That’s because you are wearing them down. It’s not the same as the 70K Pirelli AS 3 Plus or 80K Michelin Defender you see on Tire Rack.

I have run on my Buick Enclave both the Pirelli Scorpion Verde and Scorpion AS Plus 3, which rode so hard that I got rid of them after a few months. I went with Continental LX 25, which ride softer and quieter.

Also keep in mind OEM tire warranties are much more limited than the warranty you'll get in an aftermarket purchase from the same mfg and tire brand!

Here in Northern Europe our Winters are sub zero and long and dark, Continental , Nokian, Vredestein are the favourite ask anyone here , I don't see Bridgestone recommended anywhere, looking at these tires they look like they do not have enough Sipes to be flexible in deep snow, I am male I do not care about tread pattern I care about the traction and the Tire compound and what's best in a blizzard with my family onboard in a near 2000kg car, not saying they are bad tires but we go with what works for us, I know the compounds of Euro tires vs US tires are completely different with the same brands Euro tires having a softer stickier compound. I also know our tires are more expensive, so they are a huge investment for us. I could not see these All seasons tires being adequate for our needs.

The snow doesn't stick around very long at all in most places that get it in the U.S. The Michelin Cross Climate 2's are the best all weather tires I've found so far.

What are you all guys saying? Is this an antycommercial for Bridgestone or..? I live in central europe, half of a year its warm as hell, half o a year its dark and cold with frequent snow falls. Bridgestone is winning a lot of contents and offers one of the best breaking distances. No matter if the test is on wet, dry, slippery its always on one of first three positions. I own Blizzark tires as my winter and as my summer tires. It was always performing excellent, opposite to for example Michelin or Pirelli I got OEM in my vehicles. To be honest I dont care if I'll do 35 or 40k miles on a set of tires, the more important for me is to have a grip when it's needed.
@kurtp5379
@kurtp5379 4 ай бұрын
Tire Rack and Discount Tire both have better performing tires than those ultras. Like, Perelli Scorpion Weatheractive, Pirelli Scorpion AS Plus 3, Continental Cross Contact LX25, Michelin Cross Climate 2, Yokohama Geolander CV GO58 and even, Goodyear Assurance Weather Ready.

Better performance generally means faster cornering. Which means very stiff sidewall. In a tall SUV, the vehicle itself might not be able to corner that fast even if the tires can. Generally if the tires can handle corners 15 miles over the yellow warning signs, that good enough for most driving situations. You can set cruise control at 70 mph and any turn 55 or higher you can just go through without slowing down. For spirited driving in a sport car, of course the criteria for tire selection will be completely different.

Bridgestone advertisment.they gave her the tyres.interesting to hear if pirelli tyres were noisy when new or became that way with nearly 30 k on them.also lot of allseason tires tend to be more noisy than summer tyres .

there's a little bit of a difference from the pirellis to the Bridgestone of road noise but with me being an over-the-road driver we did what we call tire siping and that would give the tire a little bit better ride of cutting through all junk

Continental advertises their CrossContact LX25 as giving you "that new car ride". They claim it has some sort of cushion layer, which I believe because my LX25 tires ride noticeably better than the Pirelli Scorpion AS+ that I had before.
@Allthingsfadra
@Allthingsfadra 25 күн бұрын
That’s interesting about a cushion layer. I’ll have to look into that to that. If it implies a softer rubber, it might not be great in the winter.

Of course new tires are going to be quieter than 30,000 mile tires. I've run both Pirelli Scorpion Verde and Scorpion AS Plus 3 on my Buick Enclave and they ride too hard. I actually got rid of a new set of Scorpion AS Plus 3 and put on Continental LX 25, which ride smoother and quieter, instead.

Tbh there is nothing wrong with Alenza or Scorpion here… she could have gotten AS Plus 3 or LX25. But yeah if you have the money or have an opportunity to get it free go for it. Her biggest problem is she’s not driving a GLE 63S or Cayenne Turbo… she would not hear the tires or her music because the 500+ HP V-8 is so loud

@@Reem-n2b3pIf this is “the worst” then you haven’t spent much time on KZbin. Everything I discussed was factual information about the Alenza tires. Yes, driving style absolutely affects the longevity of the tires but most of this video is my opinion. That’s what this channel is about. It’s an informed opinion and you’re always welcome to disagree but it’s better if you do it in a constructive way.

I have more than 90,000 km on my 2020 CR-V with OEM Bridgestone Ecopias and some of that is on my Michelin X-Ice Snows. I would say at least 60K km not miles on the OEM. Still good for at least 2 more seasons I think. I usually replace them early too. Still above 4mm of tread depth. Very quiet and comfortable. Bridgestone is still the world’s #1 Tire Manufacturer by revenue
