Are Starline and Sheppler ferries both operating in December? Do the ferries take snowmobiles over like they take bikes over? Are there snowplow trucks and snowblowers on the island to handle heavy snowfall?

Star Line, which was recently rebranded to the "Mackinac Island Ferry Company", is the only ferry option from November 1st through April 20th. Both ferry companies run from April 21st through October 31st. I believe the only way to get a snowmobile to the island as a general visitor would be to cross the ice bridge from St. Ignace. I don't think you can bring one across on the ferry unless you're an island resident or a hired contractor. You can also try reaching out to the Mackinac Island Ferry Company for further details. Oh also, there is a plow truck in the winter that keeps the main roads uniform for the snowmobiles, horse carriage taxis and drays. Its purpose isn't so much to remove snow as it is to just level it so they are safes. I don't think I've seen any snowblowers, but I don't think they're banned either if they're being pushed and not ridden on. Most houses on the island don't really have driveways because there are no cars or garages, so you only need a small path shoveled to walk up the front door.
