There is a quick disconnect you can put on the bucket to make filling it easier. I learned this from a rat rack for reptile feeder rats actually. Getting my hands in a bunch of things. Loving your channel just came over from a plug on a live channel. Dutch said come over. Looking forward to seeing more from you.

At least the rabbits can lick the ice out of a bowl. Twenty years of rabbits will teach you many tricks. I’ve had my bottles for all these years. I use one system in summer and another in winter. Each rabbit is different. Each person that has rabbits has a different system that works for them. Some have rabbits inside and some outside. One thing I always did was thin down my herd in late fall. Fewer rabbits cut down on work. You have a few rabbits and that helps. Some people that show rabbits will have at least 30-90 if not more. When you have that many rabbits you tend to use the watering system your using. Some people have a heated building for the rabbits. Sometimes a heat lamp can heat a shed just enough to keep the water from freezing. In the winter time rabbits will eat more because they use up more energy to keep warm.
@SawyerRidgeFarm5 жыл бұрын
Kim Nisley that’s so true about them licking the ice too. It would be really nice to be able to thin the herd in the fall before the weather gets bad, but this is the time that we’re really ramping up and gearing up for our rabbits sales at the farm stores that we sell to. It sure would make work easier if we only had a few though. 😏 And they do eat much more this time of year, we have noticed! It’s crazy the difference in the seasons. 😳 Thanks so much for watching! I love to hear tips from people who have raised rabbits for a lot longer than we have. We’re still learning so much.

This is the same kinda concept as airline tubing for multiple fish tank set up when I used to breed fish..Where you ziptied it at the last cage they do make caps and a min toxic silicone that you can use I'd you can find them less like to leak.Do you have any proplems with the lines freezing up? I realize the water ,flow works due to gravity and the fishtank lines ,set up work off air and a pump but kind of the same idea...I so love you two and stop appolidging for a mess ,or something not working correctly we love you guys just the way you are.We are all learning together ..If we make mistakes we learn from them and that is what makes us human and stronger...Sending positive energy blessings and prayers my friends.....(MawDukestheGoOdWiTcH) xox....Ok I asked about the freezing b4 I finished the video...sorry!!! Lori Miller haha! Thanks! That’s cool that you bred fish and used the same set up for the airlines. We’ve surprisingly had no leaks with just the zip tie at the end. But if it ever comes to that, we will definitely check into getting one of those caps. We didn’t even know those were out there. Lol

Here is additional idea.....Add a toilet float valve to the bottom of the bucket if you have a fresh water supply. This way the bucket will fill automatically as needed (just like in the back of a toilet). You will NEVER need to fill the bucket again. Been using mine for several years. Now for my question.....can you provide a link for the bowls you are using?

Robert Santiago great question! They do take up some space, yes. It’s not the best system, but for us, it’s what works for now. If we could find a way to use the automatic system year round, we would definitely be doing that. We are still learning and expanding our rabbitry. As Jacob says in the video, our rabbitry is still under construction and no where near finished where we want it. We have lots of plans, and hope you will follow along in our journey. We are in the process now of giving the rabbits more of a wind/rain break for the winter. Thanks for your question! 👍

Deanna Valentine hadn’t really thought about that, but that is a possibility. I don’t know how hot a heat strip would get or if it would get hot enough to start melting that tubing. We’ve thought about maybe a submersible bucket heater, but not sure if that would do much good for the lines or not.
