@StripeyHatGuy2 жыл бұрын
Hi ThisIsMyLaine! Yeah was quite a pleasant surprise to meet Monty as well - had a good banter that night. The way Monty came was actually our way back as the river was so swollen that we couldn't cross it anymore from all the meltwater 😎. Happens with the sleeping pad, good that it was in the morning 😂. Therm-a-rest already shipped me a new one so hopefully I'll have it for the weekend 🤞 Thanks for watching! ATB Stripey

Hi Stripey. Nice camp. I ordered the Danish Endurance socks which I’ll be trying next week on my next camp. And I also noticed you were using a fire pit in this video which I just bought and will try next week too. It looks really good. Good to see you laughing and seeing the funny side about the Thermarest! Serk
@StripeyHatGuy2 жыл бұрын
Hi Seek! Hope you like the socks as much as I do👍. Yeah the fire pit is a need thing, it is actually Roberts and I think it is very useful for not leaving burned ground or on really wet ground what we had. The best off it is that you can use the heat also from underneath the pit for getting warm feet, drying,.... obviously carefully. Yeah I mean there is nothing to change about the xlite no reason to let it ruin my day 😂👍 Thanks for watching mate! ATB Stripey

yeah absolutely. I am a therm-a-reat customer for roughly 17 years and I never had an issue with the service/replacement/repair of my stuff. Still a bit of disappointed as it is my second xlite in one season and this shouldn't happen for an article this expensive!

Great video Stripey, lovely drone footage too. Really sets the scene for what was quite an enclosed wee camp. That river crossing looked quite tricky on the way in, I take it you couldn't get back that way?
@StripeyHatGuy2 жыл бұрын
Hi James, thank you very much. Really great meeting you! Yeah on the way back we had to go the same way you went... Todpole Carpark...as Meikle burn was to swollen 😂 ATB Stripey

@StripeyHatGuy2 жыл бұрын
Hi Brian, thanks a lot. I don't think that you need to be concerned tbh. There are thousands of xlites outside and only a very small amount are faulty. I just had twice bad luck I assume 🤞 ATB Stripey

Did you find them OK? After a jaunt up Meikle Bin with mate Andy, we went for a tour of the woods (😅) before finding the Machar Stones.
@StripeyHatGuy2 жыл бұрын
Hi John! Yeah it wasn't to bad actually - Paul was our 'guide' and he did an excellent job 👍. We had quite a tour de woods the next day as the river (Meikle burn) was to swollen to cross 🙈 Really interesting part of the Campsies 👍 ATB Stripey

Hi mate. Just subbed to your channel. Been planning a trip to this location for ages. It's only a 30 min drive from my house. How easy are the stones to find. Did you have map coordinates or did you use a GPX file ? They seem quite hard to find. Thanks.
@StripeyHatGuy2 жыл бұрын
The stones are pretty straight forward from my point of view. megalithix.wordpress.com/2016/01/11/machar-stones/ provides a grid reference which makes it fairly easy 👍

May I suggest you may want to look at the mini air pump made by FlexTailGear, sold through Amazon. Watch the KZbin demo of it. It’s and excellent invention and not very expensive.👍
@StripeyHatGuy2 жыл бұрын
Is a good recommendation, but to be honest I try to avoid single purpose items as good as it gets. I use the pump sack also as a dry sack for packing things and when I use the scarp 1 I use it as a 'tent' bag. Thanks a lot so, always great to hear other thoughts! ATB Stripey

That's the 2nd vid I've seen where the xlite as failed there must be a manufacturing issue with them
@StripeyHatGuy2 жыл бұрын
Hi Craig, that is definitely possible. For me it is the second xlite within one season...still think that the xlite is an amazing isomattress so regarding the r-value, packsize and weight. Maybe I am lucky the third time 🤞 Thanks for watching! ATB Stripey

I've been meaning to head to the Machar Stones for a year or two but I've been put off by the lack of a direct path. Is it easier from the bridge parking, following the farm track and then cutting through the plantation or to come in from the northern side following the edge of the trees before a shorter trek through the plantation. I've got no intention of doing it in inclement weather 😊 The standing stones at Dumgoyach are quite picturesque.
@StripeyHatGuy2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ian, we walked basically both ways as the rivers where completely swollen the next day. I personally think the way from the bridge is a wee bit more pathfinding than from the Todpole Carpark but both are easygoing when you have a gps/map/compass. Yeah read about the Dumgoyach Stones, really like the wee hill next to it as well - maybe someday I will head to them - thanks for the tip! ATB Stripey
