Good info. The maple sap icicle as a nutrient is a great point. Bet heated up it makes a nice, flavorful tea. Thanks.

I was out today and I don’t know what they’re called but it’s the bud tips at the very end of pine branches. They don’t seem to be immature pine cones but they’re green on the inside like you pointed out. Are they’re the pine pollen? Maybe I could send you a pic. They also seemed to be covered in white resin

probably the new growth, sometimes called candles. That part is edible too. The taste takes some getting used to but its not so bad after you've tried it a few times. Here is a picture of what I'm talking about. www.google.com/search?q=pine+candles&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS796US796&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjyq_q1kKHhAhUId98KHTCGBZEQ_AUIDygC&biw=1904&bih=924#imgrc=cveNvJYG9GKcLM:

Yup that’s it’s, thanks. Incidentally I did find some immature pine cones today, they taste like some vanilla/banana type candy, I swear I’ve tasted it before

@@billjim334 Interesting, do you know what kind of pine it is. I almost always am dealing with white pine here. There are some red, black and austrian pines around but mostly just planted in landscapes.
